How much does it cost to hire pros usually? Ballpark range?
I would imagine it depends on your locale.

No kidding Mara. At the first bite, I went out and bombed. Then afterwards I saw another one and realized the bombs did no good for us. I stayed up researching flea stuff until 2 am and the next morning ran out as soon as Kmart opened and boraxed the house to death. I just can''t sleep knowing that one flea could turn into dozens in an extremely short period of time. It seems exponential.Date: 5/18/2007 4:01:18 PM

''Every day you sit and try to figure out what to do, those suckers are breeding...FAST.''
This is totally my thought. I am surprised you posted last nite and have not done anything really yet to try to combat the problem as of today other than some powder, you need WAY more than that. I was so disgusted at finding 6 fleas that I was like IMMEDIATELY researching and looking into what we needed to do and then we jumped on it. I didn''t want to give them any extra time, esp when I read how fast they breed and HATCH. So you really need to get going with something, every minute counts IMO. Good luck!!
Able to have a drink without seeing fleas - priceless.Date: 5/18/2007 4:11:15 PM

Yay! Have fun at home depot! The DE should do the trick, because it works just like the borax to kill them!Date: 5/18/2007 4:47:47 PM

''What is Diatomaceous Earth?
It is a non-toxic, safe substance made up from crushed fossils of freshwater organisms and marine life. Crushed to a fine powder and observed through a microscope, the particles resemble bits of broken glass. Deadly to any insect and completely harmless to animals, fish, fowl or food. Most insects have a waxy outer shell covering their bodies, INSECT STOP scratches through this shell causing the insect to dehydrate leading to eventual death.''

TG- one bombing worked for us and like I mentioned before we were heavily infested.
Another remedy I read was just to get hardwood floors. Harder for them to survive!
