So my wedding date was moved up 8 months.

Which means I have a little less than 6 months to plan this thing.

My opinion question is regarding flowers. I was going to have tulips be the flowers but that was when I was getting married in May, now it''s happening in September I''m thinking of daisies. So here''s my idea, I carry Gerber Daisies and the rest of the flowers are regular white daisies (I''d post pictures but I can''t

) All the tables will have the white daisies but mine, which will be my bouguet of Gerber Daisies. What are your ladies opinions on the 2 different daisies? Do you think it would look too ''off''??

My other question was, I really want to have periwinkle be the color but I''m not sure what color Gerber Daisies would look good with that (besides white).

i think it''s a great idea. i love regular daisies and i think that gerber daises are more dramatic -- make more of an impact so that''s perfect for the bride! i''m not sure about the colors though. can''t wait to see some pictures of you ideas..

Thanks Lovely. I think I''ll go with that. I love the deep red and orange gerber daisies, it would just pop against the white.

I might not go with periwinkle. My MOH is pregnant due in July so hopefully some fabulous fall color will come out by then.

i love the bright gerbers -- the oranges and pinks. i definately think that you''ll be able to choose from a great fall palette! i think that i might be doing something similar -- having my bouquet be different than the rest. i''m not holding strong to a matching of flowers motif, but more trying to keep a coordinating color themes of yellow, green and cream/whites...

Ohhh that sounds pretty. I like the idea of mixing up the flowers within the same color palate it''ll give a spin on the flowers!

My FI has forbid me from having anything pink.

I like salmon colored G''daisies...which would actually look pretty against my dress. Hmmm there''s a thought. Thanks Lovely!!!

It''s a great idea! Gerber daisies are so long lasting, at least in my experience. My boss gave me a gerber daisy two weeks ago, and I still have it sitting on my desk, as bright and healthy looking as the day it was given to me. Well, not quite, but they''ll definitely hold up through a wedding without fading!

Blasphemy! I can see why he forbids you from making HIM wear anything pink, but he can''t deny the bride shades of blush and bashful.....that''s not fair!

The funny things is, even if he ''allowed'' me to have a pink wedding he wouldn''t be wearing pink...his best man and the ushers would but not him.

He just doesn''t like the color.

I like Gerber daisies a lot. It sounds very pretty, especially w/the bright colors for your bouquet. Also, for the others you could even add one colored daisy w/the regular white ones, if you want them to have color. If not, the white will be very pretty, especially if the other dresses are not white. Or, you could have your Gerber daisies the color of the bridesmaid dresses and have theirs, the color of yours, i.e., white.
Now, I''m confusing myself!

Here is what my florist told me. I am carrying gerber Daisies. She said that white Diasies hold up horribly and that if I wanted to do white then to do the white gerber daisies. She said that I was going to be much happier with them and the way they looked than the reg. daisies.... But I think the idea of white and you with only color sounds great!

I forgot all about doing white gerber daisies. I was looking at some silk gerber daisies and thinking how nice they look....has anyone done silk flowers for their wedding?

Hi Caribou!

I think silk Gerbera daisies would look fine. I was in my friend''s wedding a few years ago and she had silk flowers, and I hate to say it, the flowers looked...well..fake! I''m not even sure what kind of flowers they were, so I think that''s why they looked fake to me. They were also this really really weird two tone shade of cream/light pink - something I have never seen in a real flower except peonies -- and these weren''t peonies. I have a silk gerbera daisy plant in my kitchen and I get asked all the time if it is real.

I did a quick Google search and came up with this site with silk gerbera daisies:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/gerberdaisies.html

If you scroll down there is a really pretty bouquet of lavender and purple colors.

I also really like the colors in this one and I think it would look awesome for fall:

Thanks Pebbles...funny, that is the exact website I was looking at when I got the thought of doing silk gerber daisies.

I''m going to look into this. My only issues is what would I do with the extra but then again they could be favors for anyone that wanted them.

Hi Caribou!

I love Gerberas and have some very convincing fakes that I got at www.silkflowersexpress.com a few years ago. Everyone always thinks they are real... and they''re a bargain at 62 cents a stem! They have most colors too!

as for alternate uses, in my house they make great cat toys... cheaper than feather wands, flexible, and "fun to chew on" according to Lucy, who carries them around from room to room. The only problem is she sometimes invades my arrangement to get a new one!

Great idea - aside from the invasion of your real arrangements!

Caribou - I love the idea you''re going with, and think silk Gerberas are about the only flower to look as close to real as possible. Plus, you won''t have to pay hundreds to have your bouquet preserved.

Pebbles, thanks for that link! The centerpiece bowls are cheap, cheap cheap and perfect.

Caribou- A friend of mine had a wedding recently and used silk gerber daisies (in the colors you want!) for all the centerpieces and on the cake. I didn't see them, but she said she got tons of compliments on them.

Caribou--I think silk gerbera daisies will look fine.

Pebbles--thanks for that website. Wow, is there anything they don''t carry?! Love it!
