For those of you who love your setting...

I'll chime in. I love my setting and I know it's ugly to 99% of people.
How long have you had it?

I've had if for 4 years now?
What criteria did you use to select it?

It was originally my grandmothers. After she died, her children split her jewelry and my mom picked this because the center stone was a sapphire and my sister wanted the sapphire for her ering. That left the setting and 2 side stones. The general opinion was that is was ugly but I loved it. So I had my husband put an oec in the center.
Does anything bother you over time and if so, what would you advise others when choosing their setting?

YES! We think the center stone and the sides were added to the band after it was made so the spacing is not at all even. They put them where the band allowed and while it looks pretty even from the top, the side view is totally wonky. It does bother me. But there isn't a way of doing it that keeps what I like about the band so I just sorta shrug it off.

Also, do you think that it reflects your overall personality?
Yes. I mean, I am a chunky jewelry girl, thin bands and delicate stuff just disappear on me. So my style in jewelry is big and bold and I am a bigger lady and sassy so it lines up. What I love most about my setting is that it's 2 loops that are interconnected but retain their own identity, which I think is a great symbol for marriage. I always say my husband is the plain loop and I am the diamond loop.

LOVE this!! You have the only one, and you have history. Priceless.

1. You have beautiful hands
2. The bird song is sweet
3. Great eye capturing the dappled light.

1. Thank you for the lovely compliment. I have hands like my mother, and my great-grandmother (I was also named after her).
2. The video was taken early morning during my commute to work (I walk). The birds are always chatty at that time. I enjoy it. :cool2:
3. Just got lucky. ;)2

I’ve had my setting since last November. I pretty much love everything about it. It’s 8 prongs, cathedral shank, not too thin, has rose gold and platinum and a few diamonds. The donut is big and high enough that I don’t have to worry about it scuffing when worn next to a diamond band, although I usually wear a spacer anyway. It’s a solitaire with a twist and unique because no one has one like it. At least as far as I know.

Who was your ring made by, I cant seem to see any of your posts about it??

I have an OEC in a solitaire setting. I love it, but I initially had it set like this just until I could decide what my forever setting would be. But I have no idea what that is! I would love something really beautiful and special, but I don’t know...9E866CBC-11EF-4DE2-87F5-09CA07DF39C2.jpeg84FDC40D-6799-4240-A134-11FBB40A1F2B.jpegCA60176F-E7CA-4E58-8066-19C9AF07551A.jpeg

Hi! It was made by David Klass. I don’t have a thread for it.

I have had this setting for about five years now, but it is actually the 3rd (!) setting for this stone which is the same one I got engaged with back in winter 2010. I do love this setting, and while I might get an anniversary band or 5 stone ring down the line if finances allow me to, I don’t see myself ever taking this stone out of this setting. It is a David Klass setting, and I just really like the sparkle and detail of it. I do feel like it reflects my personality better than my first two settings. I would say to just go with what your heart wants. I always loved halos on stones my size, but my fiancé (at the time) didn’t. But in reality, I’m the one wearing the ring long term, so I wish I had been more upfront about what I really wanted. Just to add, my first setting had some serious workmanship issues, so I got married with the second one which was just a channel pave set solitaire.F1594914-BCBE-4746-AB77-0177A0231D2F.jpeg8B7BF689-F619-46BD-BBE3-E71A9F5142E4.jpeg

I am a solitaire girl but I love my current temporary setting. Maybe I love it knowing it is temporary IDK. It's been temporary since August 2018 so 2 years now and counting. I plan on resetting to an 8 prong solitaire setting at some point in the future. I had hoped for an authentic antique setting but I don't think it is going to happen. We shall see. In the meantime I love the temp setting and am in no rush.

What I love about the current setting.
-Feminine
-It has presence
-Blingy
-And somehow it seems delicate/elegant in appearance. Which I know is crazy since it is such a big setting but IRL that is how it feels to me. It dresses up my diamond and looks like a lovely and feminine flower. Just appeals to me for whatever reason.

It definitely reflects my personality despite being a solitaire girl because it is feminine and flirty and fun with a big presence which is just like me. But shy and introverted at times too so obviously it doesn't fit all aspects of my personality lol. Let's just say she fits the fun aspects of my personality.

Aww thank you! No she came that way. I got her from Jewels by Grace and that was the setting she was in when I found her. I'm sorry! But @Inked created a very similar ring and she may be able to help you...good luck!

This was an upgrade/replacement for my original stolen ring, so she had to fit well with my wedding band. I know that there is a chance that with the delicate nature of the filigree that the ring may not last as long as a solitaire, but this ring makes my heart sing in a way that solitaires don't. I had a Pinterest board for years to determine the setting I wanted - there was a clear trend for organic metalwork and filigree.
Does anything bother you over time and if so, what would you advise others when choosing their setting?
The band I had made previously with DK had a square shaped band at the bottom, which rubs up against my fingers. In an effort to avoid this, I over emphasized my want for a rounded band at the bottom, which resulted in a thinner band for my E-ring.
My preference would have been for a LGD, but as this is a representation of my husband as well as myself, the ruby is a compromise.
Also, do you think that it reflects your overall personality?
No. I am frequently overly practical and not overtly feminine. This ring represents my love for detailing, metalwork - it is wearable art.

That might be the prettiest ruby I've ever seen.
