do you mean that in a way that I won't like it? :-) Or buy and just be done with it?

haha... I wouldn't say that.

It's an SI2... so prob have to check inclusions for yourself, no matter what BN says.

I would not assume a diamond will drop after v day. I do think the inventory is lower arohnd now but i dont think the prices are effected too much.

much.i wouldnt buy an si2 without seeing a pic of it. What is your budget just for the stone, and for the whole ring? What kind of setting does she want

Have they told you this stone is eyeclean? It appears to have a large crystal right in the middle. Very risky to order this one. I'd only order VS2 and up from BN because of no pictures (and even then I wouldn't because I require pictures).

Here is what I got offered from local guy and I didn't see any imperfections./

The angles on it look good, but the SI2 part on a stone you can't see before hand seems pretty risky. They do have a good return policy, so you could always send it back if that crystal looks bad. I'd probably look around a little more first if it were me.

Can you please recommend which sites I should check to compare?

thank you

any place that will give you photos, james allen, whiteflash, brian gavin, good old gold are good places to start.
id jewelry will give you photos but they arent readily available on the site

The cut grade on your stone is only VG, and even though the angles seem ok, I'd rather the cut be Excellent. I think I would pay rather pay a little more for the BGD stone recommended above since it's an AGS 000 with blue fluorescence (faces up whiter in the presence of UV light).

I think you can look at sites like Brian Gavin, Whiteflash, GOG, James Allen, etc (do a search on this site to get an addt'l list) to compare. BN does have a good return policy but you'll have to pay for return shipping.

bizmord-you keep asking for advice but you dont seem interested in listening to the responses. si2 is is almost never eyeclean. blue nile is a mass vendor. Brian Gavin is your best best for helping you select a diamond with a focus on what matters and what doesnt to select a stone as large and as well cut as possible for your budget.

This is the one I am getting.

let me know if there is something really wrong with this diamond.

thank you.
By the numbers it could be a very groovy choice. The crown configuration places a lot of height above the girdle, for lots of strong fire potential. The drawback is not-knowing whether it's a clean SI2. The grade-setting inclusion is a large crystal under the table. If it's transparent you might be okay, but if it's dark it could be quite visible. You can ask the BN reps, as they have notes, but without a gemologist examining the specific diamond for you it may not be a sure thing.

P.S. Can one assume that price will drop right after valentines day?

Maybe on diamond-studded heart-shaped boxes with red ribbons and assorted chocolates inside?
