wasn't sure if i should put this here or in RT but DianaBarbara's 'what do you think is beautiful' in an old cut thread inspired me to try to take some pics to get a bunch of my OEC's all on the same 'plane' to try to see faceting differences... here are the results.

ignore things like inclusions or dirt splotches (i cleaned these but apparently not well enough for macro!), but was just trying to show performance or diff faceting patterns etc. these are all 7mm+ OEC's.

lots of pics to follow!

more.

a lot of these are same position but moved myself around them or moved my hand around them to get diffused or sunlight etc.

last set.

the other thing i wanted to note is that while i do post-process all my photos, there really wasn't much i needed to do for these, SOOC they were really amazing to begin with in terms of picking up the colors and sparkle, i mostly just tried to adjust for white balance and added sharpening or contrast to call out the faceting since that's what i wanted to show.

ETA...the top 2 in the 2nd post actually were more heavily edited, but what i found interesting about those was that by just ratcheting up something like vibrance slightly, you could way more easily see originally hidden colors in the stone on the far right and far left. in person these were blazing, so i felt like any pics i was taking would be SUPER washed out with brightness since i was outside and in the sun (or diffused), was happy when i uploaded them to see that wasn't the case, camera did a good job of capturing true to life views.

Drool! :cheeky:

Amazing pics, Mara! What are the specs on these again?

Kim, the stones are:

7.1mm OEC in art deco filigree setting
9.5mm OEC in vintage plain setting
7.25mm OEC in pendant setting
7.5mm OEC/tranny in vintage setting with OMC/OEC/single cut diamonds

I find it interesting how each of the stones can look great in one of the photos (or more than one!), and then maybe not so great in another photo--just goes to show how photos may not accurately represent performance! In person all of these were blazing.

Thanks, Mara! They're all incredible stones, but my favorites are your pendant and your honker.

Whoa! how do you decide which one to wear? or are these your "stackers"?? ;))

I agree with your point about a single picture cant accurately portray what each stone can do - they are all so unique that it is so wonderful to see each one 'live and in action' to really be able to appreciate its beauty!

Gorgeous pics - thank you for sharing!

Wow!!! What a collection!!!!

Mara, thank you for taking the time to post these pics. Gorgeous-every single one of them! How amazing that they are all yours!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE every single one!

What an awesome thread! I agree that from the pics, your pendant and 9.5mm are the ones that really capture my heart. I would love to see them in person.

I'm too busy drooling to do any comparing!! Gah! How do you decide what to wear each morning???

I  the one with the side stones. What an awesome collection!

Sigh...I love everything... I love you for posting these pics!!!

With this uber OEC stacker, I would recognize Mara instantly!! :lickout:

All beautiful!! Thank you Mara for posting these comparisons =)

Stunning!

They're all gorgeous!!

Mara
every one is beautiful ,but I love the tranny the most . does it have less fire than the OEC's ?

Jewel not at all actually. It's very fiery. It also is not flat crowned so maybe that helps.

Lol re stackers!!! I actually wear the pendant and honker daily, my poor 1.5c only gets weekend love but man I love that ring. I sold the ring to the far left since it was just languishing away as well.

mara, how incredible!!!!

thank you thank you for showing us this amazing family album!
I'm in love with 9mm pop's checkerboardy's face :naughty:

they are all so so beautiful, though! look at those pastels!! :sun:

Wiping something off my mouth....

Oh, What GREAT Pictures !!!!
I love each and every one of the stones, they all have their
very own personality !!!! And Sparklie-ness
I think that is what makes these older cut diamonds so special !!!!

If you ever sell that pendant stone, I call dibs!!!

Bestill my heart! Gorgeous shots, Mara. And goes to show how individual each old cut will be from the next one (and how tricky it is to photograph them in a way that shows them true to life). What a beautiful collection!

Is the one on the far left (filigree mounting) the one that's currently on LT Mara? They are all gorgeous!

Yup, it sold over the wkd and is with it's new owner now!

Erica, so true but man it's fun to try to capture their personalities on camera all the same, hehe.

I know, eh??? SERIOUSLY out of this world awesomeness!! If you were to wear all of those on one finger--- you could land planes, or throw satellites off course!!! Come on--- amuse us with a shot of them all on one finger!! Live my fantasy for me - I need a blinding bling shot!!!
