Thought I'd post some photos for the amethyst lovers on the forum. I just got this pretty little four peaks amethyst from Colorado Gem. Oh when I say little I mean by amethyst standards. It is 2.70 and was the smallest on the site. Some of their stones are huge!

I guess you could call it a medium purple. Not too dark or light. It does have red lots flashes when you move it but I wasn't able to catch that.

I don't know how to upload two at once. Sorry.

And I got these 7mm rounds. They aren't from Colorado Gem. They are supposed to be from the same mine though but I can't say for sure. The colors work pretty well together. They have windows but should look fine set.

And this crystal from the four peaks mine that Jack threw in. I collect crystals and I love it :)

I can see their beauty of the amethysts wanting to shine from your pictures. They need a bit more light in your pictures and stones photography poorly in their cases. What are you plans for them? A jewellery set of earrings and a pendant?

Unfortunately, I don't think the large beauty is putting it's best foot forward for the camera - great shape though! Are you planning a pendant or ring for it? The pair look as though they will make a pretty pair of earrings...congratulations!

Love the last photo :))

I know. I have a really hard time taking photos. I think it's a combination of my camera, and living in a lower level flat of a old victorian house. ( you know in San Francisco a lot of us live in these old houses). It's just kind of dark in here and we don't have fancy new lighting fixtures.

I don't know what I'll do with them yet. I would like to have them all set, but because I have so many potential projects I know it won't too soon. For instance I just bought a whole collection of moonstones. I look at them and see so many different possibilities. I'll probably set some of those myself because I have so many. And then I'm still sort of working through all this sleeping beauty turquoise I bought. But ideally the four peaks stone would be set in simple prongs. Earrings too :)

Yes, photographing gems can be tricky at the best of times. Set of moonstones? Turquoise? Are these posted anywhere...off to hunt.

Starzin :) I do have the turquoise posted. I didn't post the moonstones. But I'll add them here later if you like. They aren't rainbow moonstones ( I wish). But they are pretty. Clear with blue sheen and a cats eye stone too.

I just found the turquoise along with your whopping stash of garnets and other amethyst!! Gorgeous. For others this is the link https://www.pricescope.com/community/search/. Beautiful turquoise too and good job of silversmithing.

Please do post the moonstones here then at least this thread will show many of your lovelies :))

link takes me to a google search......?

Well here is a quick group shot of most of my moonstones. The round one on the top is a cats eye but i couldn't capture it. The one in the middle doesn't have as much sheen as some of the others ( like you have to have it facing one direction to see it ), but it has a green blue body which makes it interesting.

This one I had forgotten to put in the group shot. I had it elsewhere because I like it so much. Sort of like the idea of putting it with these 4mm madagascar sapphires.

I have two more ( well four but I've misplaced two), but I have been experimenting with them so they are in my jewelry making bag, and just putting them in a bezel really makes these guys glow.

Thanks for that IK, I think some of those (if not most) would be very pretty! Love the idea of the one you have with the two little sapphires. If the moonstone's colour is near this IRL that set would be lovely.

I forgot to say that I love the four lighter garnets on the bottom row of the other thread - very pretty.

I have two more ( well four but I've misplaced two), [...]
 Oh to have so many  Thank you for hunting them out and posting their pics. I wouldn't know what to set first either, a lovely dilemma though.

Beautiful moonstones - I envision antique style Victorian necklace (multi drops) with matching drop earrings. :Up_to_something:

Thanks. Oh yes that moonstone with the sapphires is really pretty in real life.

I love the small garnets too. I have even more now. I have been slowly collecting from an Ebay seller that I really like. They are calibrated 5mm rounds. I also just bought some tiny calibrated sapphires and malayas from them. Great for accent stones.

Yeah, some type of antique style set would really be cool.

Just for fun I bezeled one of the moonstones this week as a pendant with a small lilac sapphire at the bottom. The bail is a bit funny ( didn't notice till later). Hoping to bend it slightly. Anyway, it's fun to wear. I'm going to make some matching earring charms to go with it next. Please excuse the cat scratches on my chest.

It's lovely IK - love the design, putting the sapphire at the bottom instead of the top. How wonderful that you can make such lovely pieces to wear and when someone compliments you to have that response "Thank you I made it myself " :))

**MB lets out a long, peaceful and almost meditative sigh** Oh, IK, we have to get together some time! I love your work, and you have become so good so quickly! This is one case where the only problem I'd have with that necklace is not being able to see it - unless I stood in front of the mirror all day. So I would have to give it to my best friend who lives close by - or maybe you're DH wouldn't mind wearing it all the time just so you could admire it? :Up_to_something:

Mmm, those amethysts are gorg!

Thanks ladies! Making jewelry such fun. You gotta try it!
MB yes, we need another PS Bay Area get together :)

Nice work! Is the bale slightly off-centred or is that just the photograph? I think the little sapphire at the very end sort of balances the longer bale at the top.

I have wanted a four peaks amethyst forever- you lucky girl! I like your description of red flashes- yummy. Your moonstones and pendant are gorgeous.

You are doing great making your own jewelry. My sister and her son are also taking jewelry making classes in SF. I wonder if they are going to the same school as you. I took a jewelry drawing class from Revere Academy once, but never tried jewelry making. We need a Northern Cal GTG soon, so I can admire your jewelry person.
