Yay Madison makes her PS debut!!! She is just a gorgeous kitty. So glad she is getting along with your new kitty. Did you decide on a name yet???

Thank you. She is very special to us. I cannot believe they are friends. They chase each other and play. It is so cute. I think it is only because he is so young and she can be boss.

Tacori....Madison is a BEAUTIFUL cat!!! You can definitely tell she''s the queen of her domain!!

And your nameless one....His face is SO precious!!!!!!

Oh Tacori, Madison is gorgeous!! And I am soooo happy that they are getting along so well!

Please let us know when you decide on a name for your new baby!

Oh they are both so yummy, love Madison''s markings!!!! Little man should always see Queen Madge as superior, he might be a little whippersnapper as he gets a little older but I would think the dynamics are settled now! Great pics, thanks Tacori

Is anyone else''s cat food aggressive? Let me explain. Madison only likes dairy human food. If we are eating anything else she leaves us alone. The kitten is the opposite. He is ALWAYS trying to steal our food no matter what it is. He even stole a bit from FI''s cookie. (I have never had a cat like this before). I was eating a burrito and tore off a piece of the tortilla so he could smell it (and leave me alone). Well he picked it up (it was the size of his head!) and started running around the house and growling! I couldn''t get it away from him. It was so strange. Anyone else experience this kind of thing with your cats (it was kind of scary).

My cat is very aggressive around certain types of food. He goes nuts for turkey or grilled chicken but especially around smoked salmon. He will sit and meow at me and crawl on my lap and try to take the food off my plate. He''s never growled at me though...

Hi Tacori -

Food aggression is normal, especially in animals that have recently come from a fight-for-food environment. Strays are often this way, and in your case, this little kitten may have had a lot of competition for whatever scraps he was given! It is normal, and usually goes away once they realize that the food isn''t going to stop coming! :)

A few of my cats have had this - Murphy came from a humane society (was a stray) at about 9 months of age, and for about the first month or so, you had to really watch your plate! I remember him running into the kitchen and grabbing an entire half bagel out of my hand while I was reading the paper! He''s taken chocolate chip cookies, too. But it only lasted for a little while, and now the only thing her ever asks for is chicken (and he is not at all aggressive about it).

One of my other ones, Jezebel, was a REAL stinker once - my hubbie and I were still childless, and decided to eat our steak dinners while sitting on the living room floor at the coffee table. Jezebel poked up between my husbands legs, grabbed the ENTIRE steak off his plate, and RAN! She was NOT giving it up, either - growling, etc. I thought we''d get bit trying to get it away from her, so needless to say, she ate very well that day! :)

And strange food fetishes are normal too - just relatively uncommon (or maybe people don''t want to make it known!). One of mine, Libby, loves cantaloupe and mango. Murphy eats potato chips. Barclay wants chocolate and butter. Jezebel once ate through the plastic shrink wrap on a pack of muffins and ate all the tops off. A friend of mine has one that eats oranges and pickles. No kidding!

Tacori, I''m sure once he realizes you are always going to give him plenty of food, he won''t be so agressive!

And as for strange food fetishes ecf8503, Rascal loves french fries. He stole one from my FI''s plate the first night we all moved in together. And he always must have a sniff and perhaps a lick of whatever I am eating before he goes back to his business. Unless its turkey or tuna, and then watch out, because he will make you think that he hasn''t been fed for weeks!

Smokey loves to eat our cereal if we leave a bowl sitting on the counter!!!

Sorry, I did have to chuckle about that tiny little kitten running around the house with a big piece of tortilla.

My last kitten was like that too...I always thought it was because he was afraid he wasn''t going to get any more, so I''m just echoing everyone else to give you another example of how common it is! He was our 4th cat, and the only one to have done it, so we were a little worried about it at the time too.

Madison is a beautiful cat! I''m so glad that she has taken to your new one so quickly! Hehe, you''re lucky, it is not usually quite that simple!

Blue- It was funny (but a little scary just because I have never heard him growl before) He seems to like wheat thins too?!? Madison was sniffing around so I broke off a small piece of one for her and she sniffed and I think she was thinking "WTF? This is what he wants? It''s just a cracker" and walked away. She only begs for dairy. I have tried to give her a little piece of chicken and she was uninterested. I believe you are all right. He came from a fight or flight environment. FI says he has seen them eating out of the trash! So I am sure once he realizes he will not starve it will be better. The strange thing is if I take away his food bowl or Madison eats out of it (even though she is not allowed

) He is fine. He doesn''t even meow.

Sorry Tacori I had to chuckle too! It is normal and the little guy is trying to warn you that the food IS HIS AND TO LEAVE HIM BE WITH IT!! As Christine says it should wear off in time, he was in a situation where it was every cat for himself! Of course normal cat food isn''t worth going to all that trouble for......... My siamese loved yogurt and would wait for the pot to lick, one years ago loved tinned oysters and peanut butter on toast, also chinese takeaway! Ham is currently top of the pops with mine. Sugary cereal milk is good too.

My cat was a feral kitten when I got her. She also ate her food like there was no tomorrow when she was a baby. She was a little S**t growing up (OMG I get angry just thinking about it) as ferals usually are, but thats another story. Do you know what she likes to eat & she steals it at that? The dogs treats. God forbid I leave the pantry open because if I do she will rip open the dogs treats and eat them (Then throws them up), & after shes done with the treats she will rip holes in her bag of food, the dogs food, her bag of litter etc.... She won''t eat wet cat food and hates people food except small pieces of salmon & tuna fish.

I have to lock Grayson (its official) in our room everytime I want to eat. Very annoying. But that is his only bad personality trait (so far) Poor Madison is very sick. She was throwing up all Sunday. I took her to the vet yesterday and they gave her an IV with meds and fluids. She was so out of it. She seems to be perkier today but still puked twice today. Won''t eat or drink. I know there are lots of cat lovers on here so I need you to send her some good vibes. It is making me very sad. I am hoping for the best. If she is still sick tomorrow they will do blood work to see if it is her kidneys. She is so young, only five, I told her she had to give me ten more years! I love that little girl!

Oh Tacori!! I''m so sorry to hear about Madison!!! Send good thoughts and head bonks your way!!!!! Please keep us posted!!! I recently went through the same thing with my Sasha (she was 5 too) and I know how hard it can be....I hope your outcome is a positive one!!!!

Tacori, I''m so sorry Madison''s sick. It could just be something she''s eaten from outside (even treatments sprayed on grass which cats like to eat). I remember one of my cats ate a gheko and was sick for a couple of days. Hopefully Madison will make a full recovery. Keep us posted. Positive cat vibes heading your way!!!

Head bonks and positive vibes from here also

Thank you! She is an indoor cat so must have got sick on something here. She is still throwing up and hasn''t eaten or drank water for two days. I am going to take her back to the vet today (hopefully). She is alert and affectionate (which I am taking as good signs) but she still is obviously sick. I just wish I knew why.

Oh Tacori, I''m sorry Madison''s sick
15.gif
. But you will be amazed how quickly cats recover once the worst has passed. Hopefully you will have some better news for us later! Even Rascal seems a little hoarse today, maybe something is going around.

Besides for Madison being sick, have the kitties been behaving still? I''m still amazed at how quickly they became friends

Oh the poor thing. I hope she gets better soon. Let us know what the vet says, good luck!!!

Even being an indoor kitty, there are plenty of ways for her to catch something. Cats from outdoors can leave their germs on your door, stairs, etc., and you unknowingly bring them into the house. Or even just having your windows open can bring in a virus. This summer, Rascal somehow got laryngitis. I kept telling my vet that he never comes in contact with other animals, heck, I don''t ever come in contact with other animals (well, besides horses that is!). But the vet reminded me of all the ways he could have caught something
2.gif
even though he is a single indoor cat.

The other possibility is that he got some germs from Grayson.

Who knows....but please do tell us what the vet says today. Are you going to get bloodwork done too?

Awww, sorry to hear about Madison being sick. It just happens though, germs are everywhere...just like a person, they usually catch something eventually. I''m sure she''ll recover just fine and be back to her good old self in no time! Are Madison & Grayson getting along well still? I''m amazed at how quickly Madison accepted him!! Hope she feels better soon!

Okay, we took Madison to the ER Animal Hospital (my vet''s suggestion) and she had blood work to see if was her kidneys (no) and X-Rays to see if anything was blocking her stomach (no). She was also given an IV with fluids and already seems perkier. She even ate alittle so....I guess we will never know what was wrong but at least she is on the mend.
36.gif
I am so happy to see her looking better! Thanks for all your good wishes.

That''s great news Tacori!!

Did they also do a full bloodwork up to make sure everything else was normal?

Excellent Tacori

She should be just fine now.

Ohh, I''m so glad they didn''t find anything major wrong, Tacori!! Looks like maybe she just had a little stomach bug of some sort. I''m glad to hear she''s feeling perkier! Please keep us updated on how everything with Madison and Grayson goes!!! BTW, love the pics. :)

So glad Madison is on the mend It''s so scary isn''t it. My Capser a Bichon never gets sick. Well a month ago I thought he was deathly ill. Took him to the vet, they kept him overnight and gave him IV fluids and antibiotics. The vet was really worried it was cancer. Fast forward, turned out it was a minor kidney infection and he''s great now. He''s 12 so I was prepared to hear bad news.

Lisa I was so scared I was in tears. I thought I would never see her again. She was SO sick. She is doing much better. Playing, eating (some), drinking (some), attentive, but she has still been throwing up. So I guess she just needs to get it out of her system. Right now both she and Grayson are sleeping on our bed. She has been kind of mean to him but I think just because she doesn''t feel good. Poor Grayson just STARES at her. He wants to play SO bad. Now a question for all those who got a kitten years after a previous cat. Both my cats are grazers. They eat throughout the day. The problem is I cannot keep Madison from Grayson''s kitty food or Grayson from Madison''s adult food. Is this a problem?

Oh, I''m SO glad to hear Madison''s feeling better!! Hopefully she''ll be completely back to normal any day now. So Grayson can bug her to play with him more.

My cat (well my parents'' cat, but I lived with her for many years) was recently attacked by a coyote, and PICKED UP in its mouth so she had huge tooth holes on BOTH sides of her spine. Everyone who saw her said it was a miracle she survived, as apparently what coyotes do once they pick up their prey is shake it quickly to break their necks. No one has any idea how she managed to escape once she was actually up in the air in this coyote''s mouth. We were SOOO scared for her since she didn''t eat or even really move for days, and they thought the puncture wounds might have just been to deep to do anything about, but she finally seems to be getting back to normal. It really is so awful when a pet is sick/injured though...they''re just so helpless. So I really am so relieved to hear that Madison is going to be okay!!! Keep us updated!!

Tacori -- I''m glad that Madison is getting back to her good ole self! It is so scary when they are sick...such a helpless feeling.
As for the kitten food...I guess I always thought i was just higher calorie...I know the last time I had a kitten in the house my older two LOVED to eat the kitten food, they''d push him out of the way for it, hehe, it was probably like a treat to them! Anyway, nothing bad happened to them. He''s only on kitten food for a short period of time, my unofficial guess would be that it is ok. Maybe ecf the resident PS vet will chime in :)

Now, Albicocca, that is scary and sad! I''m so glad your cat survived....! Does she still go outside? Coyotes are such scary animals. They''ve down to the area I live in since there are lots of trees and open land like two golf courses and a forest preserve, and I''ll see them occasionally, they always make me shudder. No fail there are always a couple nights over the summer that the windows will be open and they''ll wake you up howling/growling/yelping and what not. So far no pet attacks that we''ve heard of.
