Full eternity or 3/4 eternity? I need your opinion please

I recently upgraded my ER, which has a 2 mm width. My current wedding band is a petit pave half eternity band from Bluenile that is thinner than 2 mm (probably 1.5 mm I'm guessing). I'm contemplating upgrading my wedding band to match the new ER width. After talking with WF and go through the options, I think I'm going with this band: legato sleek line pave diamond wedding band. Here's picture.

This band is a 3/4 eternity ring. After wearing my half eternity ring for so long, I find it kind of annoying to constantly have to adjust it so the diamonds can show. WF can make it to a full eternity band, but I'm not sure if a full is better, or 3/4 is better? I thought about it when I put lotion on my face - it must be annoying to have lotion sink into the pave on a daily basis too.

So I need your opinion - which do you think is better, full eternity or 3/4? Thanks for your help!

Do your fingers swell or shrink? Have you had to resize your bands, at all?
If so, 3/4 to nearly full eternity would be recommended to allow room for sizing.
If not, either would be fine, depending on how much you use your hands, your occupation, and your preference.

3/4 for the sizing factor. Also, I think with 3/4, spinning shouldn't really be a problem.

There's also the issue of the stones at the very bottom of a full eternity taking a bit of a beating depending on how active you are.

I want an eternity band someday too but it's a commitment lol! Commit to the same size forever but the benefit is always seeing diamond. No straightening up or spinning. The 3/4 is very safe.

I haven’t thought about resizing at all, thanks for bringing it up! Full eternity doesn’t seem to have much popularity haha. This helps a lot! Thanks for all that have commented!

I would go 7/8 if you really hate the spinning. It'll rarely get to the "blank spot" and you'll have just enough to size if need be.

That’s an interesting idea! While I definitely like more diamond coverage, do you think it would look slightly odd with just a small gap in between the diamonds? My size is 4.75, so the ring is not big to begin with.

Not if it mostly stays at the bottom :) it's just an option if you want maximum coverage with the ability to size if needed.

That’s true. I’ll ask WF if they have any images showing what the 7/8 bands look like. Thanks so much!

I think it depends on how much your finger size changes. Mine have been the same for the 30 years I’ve worn rings so I’m team full eternity.

My finger size has not changed either in all these years. My rings might be a bit tighter in warmer weather but not enough to ever resize. I have the Tiffany 3mm eternity channel set band and have never had a problem with it being eternity. Wearing wedding rings on my left hand means of course that this is not my dominant hand so not the one that opens doors, etc. I might not do full eternity on my right hand.
That said, I love the look of the eternity band. No spinning and I love seeing the diamonds on the palm side of my hand. Since the ring is channel set, the diamonds don’t protrude as they would if prong set or if the diamonds were larger. I never put my rings on until I am finished with makeup, hairspray or lotion so no worries there either. It is a personal preference and one that largely depends on your lifestyle and finger swelling. Whether eternity or 3/4, I think the ring will look fabulous with your new diamond ring!

Thanks @eapj and @MissGotRocks! My finger size hasn’t changed in the past 11 years, through pregnancy and all. So the potential for resizing is not really a priority for me. I definitely like the look of a full eternity, but I’m a little concerned if I would damage the diamond on my palm side. This band is not exactly called channel set, so I’m not sure if the diamonds will be completely shielded by the metal?

Here’s the side profile. I think the diamonds are not completely embedded...

I guess you would need to talk to WF about the ring and the exposure of the diamonds. I will say though that even if the ring were 3/4 and the ring spun, you could have the same situation with the diamonds on the palm side of your hand.

That’s very true! I might be over thinking this too. Probably should just follow my heart and get the full eternity 8-)

My finger grew by 3/4 size over 40 years. Get the full and size up 1/2 size. It won’t come off with your ering on. I love my full.

Ditto @AprilBaby: Half size bigger, full eternity. Sizing a full channel or bead-set eternity is not impossible, just more complicated - you can absolutely find a good bench to do it should you need/desire to years from now.

I have a similar 2mm bead set band that is a full eternity. I had it sized from a 7 to an 8. It is not impossible to size for the right bench.

I agree to size up slightly if you go for a full eternity. I still prefer full eternity because I hate having to adjust the ring all the time.

Go with full. I had a ring that was 3/4 and I would

Well that didn't work what I tried to write was, I had a 3/4 eternity band, the blank shank was constantly on top of my finger. Vote for full eternity ring.

If your ring size hasn't changed in 11 years, I'd go full eternity all the way. I sized mine up 1/8 of a size.

Thanks everyone for commenting! I’m happy to report I have ordered the full eternity. I still kept my original size because it’s actually quite loose on my finger. I’ll post the ring once I get it. Stay tuned ;)2
