I want to share my recent amusing mall jewelry store story with someone, and I think only PSers would appreciate it:
I travel a lot for work and this week I''m in a tiny town in central Ohio with nothing to do, so I go to the mall. The mall is as tiny as the town and has two ok jewelry stores so I decided to go in an kill some time. In the first, I could hear the main sales guy telling the new sales guy that the GIA is a bunch of crap and that the store doesn''t like to use it. Um, ok? Something about how they use their students to do all the grading and the students do only what they''re told. Whatever. This guy seemed full of it. So I''m browsing and he finall comes over to me. Starts showing me some proprietary gemstone that looks different in different kinds of light (I just said "Yeah, it''s fluorescing" ... he stopped talking after that, haha). He''s just trying to sell me on his product the whole time.
We work our way over to the diamonds and he starts talking about their ideal cuts and how great they are (of course ideal cuts are the best). He pulls out two solitaires and says that one is worth $5000 more than the other, can I figure out why. The differences are completely obvious so I said "Well, one is a lower color, but much better cut and has more spread." I could tell he didn''t expect me to come up with the correct answer at all. Lol. Yay for Pricescope knowledge. I''m sure he tried to make it semi-obvious, but I don''t think he was ready for the terminology I was using. It was entertaining.
Luckily, the people in the other jewelry store were much nicer. I got to take the Leo Challenge which I completely failed. Haha. Turned out the girl had me compare a non-Leo E to a Leo H ... oops. She had a long day and made a mistake, but I still got to be entered in the raffle so I was happy. Plus she let me look at my OEC under the Leo viewer thingy and it was soooo sparkly It made me happy. The multiple free cleanings my ring (and watch) got made me happy too. The sales girl also let me try on a ton of other rings in the store and we just gushed about diamonds for 20 minutes.
Looking at jewelry never gets old!
