Hey Anchor,

Yes the taxes are awful and they do apply to WF too, anything coming in from the US diamond wise. To all online. As for the heart detailing, my sister is getting a tacori setting and it has heart detailing too on the side in gold and people just freak out over it because it''''s original

By the way, my boyfriend gave me some places in Montreal which he was really was impressed with when he went to visit. He had a nice list, so I''ll give you some (if you''re still looking)

6500 coin Beaubien (Creation Paul H www.creationpaulh.com) Montreal

Everest 8910 lajeunesse Blvd Montreal

Hey Ally!! Thanks for all your help, it really is appreciated!! J told me yesterday he doesn''t mind taking me shopping at all, so we''ll probably go look together.

And you guys are really starting to convince me... I''ll try to go and see it again on Friday evening and I''ll bring back a pic. If I decide I want it (and I''ll have to make up my mind fast, ''cause I''m leaving on April 29th), I''ll probably have to buy it myself!!! I can''t imagine having it for a couple of weeks and not being able to wear it...

So exciting anchor! Bring back pics! It''s the three stone ring with the heart detailing right? I think I can picture it. What I love about 3 stone rings is that they span the finger, so more BLING, and sometimes looks more substantial then a solitaire.

Keep us posted!

Anch,

I read the beginning post on this thread; I do that sort of thing, too. I like to "see first hand" what I''m buying, and although I think I''ve basically been "sold" on this WF thing, I do still sort of wish I could find something like that, in person. So, I totally hear what your man''s doing.

And, I didn''t know you were in Canada. If we don''t go to Vermont for our honeymoon, it''ll be Canada. My girl has a love for "Anne Shirley," and she''d adore that. We''ve talked about it, and if things work, it may be where we go. Of course, I have no idea about much of Canada, but that seems as good a spot as any.

Argh, thanks for the insight. I really appreciate it.

Nothing''s certain still, but I think he has the money now, or at least will have it soon, as he said something about his tax refund and me "getting my ring sooner than I think". We''ll see!

And ooooh that so sweet!! *squeals* I love my country so

!!! You should absolutely go to PEI (Prince Edward Island), it''s GORGEOUS!! I''ve been there for a couple of weeks where I was 13 with my family, and it''s fabulous. The Green Gables and exactly how I imagined them. They have amazing beaches and sand dunes, and although the water''s a bit cold, it was my first time swimming in the ocean so I loved it!! We camped all around the island, went to amazing seafood places and also went cod fishing. I have very fond memories of that trip, even if the drive from Montréal to PEI was very long! You''d also be going through New-Brunswick, which also has wonderful places to see.

I''m hoping to visit Nova Scotia this summer with my grandmother... The atlantic provinces are so beautiful!!

Haha... I almost called my girl to tell her what you''d said about Canada and the dunes and all that. She LOVES Tybee Island in Georgia, because of the mini-dunes, so she''d adore hearing that. But, since I got her to stop all this drama, I better not add to it now.

Thanks for that, though. I''ll have to look into more information on Canada, I suppose. It''s a bit off, but I know she''d love it, and I''ve already been to all the 48 continental states, so Canada would be grand. Something new for both of us. We''ll see how money pans out.... *the root of all evil!!**

Oh, I hear you on money being the root of all evil... Sometimes I get really worried about my boyfriend's situation... But I tell myself: He's an adult, he can handle himself. Still, he's a spender and I'm a saver, so there might be some clashes along the way!

Would going to PEI really be expensive for you guys? Things aren't very expensive in NB and PEI, and of course the exchange rates are in your favour. I guess the gas (or plain tickets?) would be expensive though, depending on where you live.

ETA: Here's some info that could help you out! http://www.peionline.com/
Enjoy!

Wow, Anch...

I was shocked that prices at the local PEI B&Bs are so low. And one said it''s only 5-10 minutes from lighthouses! My girl LOVES those. I''m impressed.

Do they speak English or French in that area of Canada? (And, I noticed you said your boyfriend struggles with English; are you in an area where French is prevalent?)

Hehehe... Told ya...

I can''t really recommend a B&B because we went on a camping trip, but you shouldn''t have any problem finding a nice, comfortable place. There''s an amazing seafood place in Souris (cute little town!), I wish I could remember the name...

Actually, the province of Québec (where J and I are) is the only Canadian province that is prevalently francophone. Although there are some francophone communities in Ontario, Manitoba and New-Brunswick, all the provinces except Québec are mostly English-speaking. You might find that they have a funny accent, especially the Acadians (mostly in New-Brunswick), but it shouldn''t give you any grief.

Eep! I''m going to be late for class! Have fun hunting!

My bf and I had a similar argument. It consumed us for a couple of weeks. I had my spreadsheet together, culminating a list of vendors from which my bf could search through and find the diamond I would want. So when we went to JM in SF, I also made an appointment to see a vendor that''s been around for 30 years (original owner and all). He enjoyed that experience, and wandering and talkign with folks at JM confirmed my suspicions that they would try to sell us the most expensive diamond. Because we experienced both sides of the spectrum, he felt motivated to buy from the first private vendor we visited (over buying online, as well, since the prices/payment options were much more in our needs basis).

The arguments prior to were ensued by his desire to be the one to pick the ring/diamond. I was incredibly frustrated that I had been doing all the research. His argument was my lack of educating him. While mine was his lack of pro-active self-education. Eventually, we agreed that I should trust him. And he was right.

Last he told me, he''d be calling the first vendor about the dreamy diamond that has caused me to cease my search. His knowing how much time and thought I put into educating myself about PS vendors and their supply, has motivated him to pursue that which I really want.

Which is what it''s about, isn''t it?
