Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could provide me some info re: Garnet eternity bands. I''m trying to have one custom made (looking at making a 1.48mm or 2mm eternity band) and am concerned about the durability of the stone in a prong-setting. I know the "hardness" of the stone is in the "7" range which is less then rubies. This ring would be worn daily and eventually "stacked" with at least two other eternity bands. Do any of you see any durability problems with this design? Any problems if I had a garnet channel set (with garnets going 1/2way around the ring)ring made? Would I be better off going for a ruby eternity band? Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

I don''t think I''d trust anything but diamonds in an eternity band; I always seem to be knocking my rings on something. If you went with stones about 1/2 way around the band I think garnets or rubies would work great for you. At least if you have problems with breaking or chipping a garnet, they won''t be as expensive to replace. I don''t seem to have any issues with garnets or tanzanites for rings and I''m pretty klutzy. I can''t wait to see your finished ring.
