This is the sapphire from his December drop. It's a 1.18 carat unheated blue sapphire from Sri Lanka. It's a lovely, lovely shade of blue. It does have some extinction and occasionally shows the half and half effect but I don't think it detracts overly from the stone. Apologies for the fingerprints all over everything.

It is indeed a very beautiful blue!

Love the color when the light hits it - good vibrant blue! I see the extinction (although I'm sure what we see is exaggerated from what is truly there in hand) but in indirect sunlight the body color even when not catching the light, is quite blue. I take it you'll keep it?

Really gorgeous! And Iove seeing your demantoid again

I think I probably will keep it. I don't really notice the extinction in person but the pictures make me second guess myself so I'll probably tote it around for another day or so and keep checking it out.

I was thinking of something like this greenlake setting. Of course the price is probably somewhere around one arm and one leg.

I love that color! And definitely love that setting you're looking at, that would be pretty blingtastic :)

I expected it to be a much lighter stone. Maybe I'm crazy pants?

I hope you enjoy it either way! :wavey:

Gah, I love it and think it would be gorgeous in that setting!

That is a gorgeous sapphire, what a lovely shade of blue  I think that setting would be perfect for it!

Beautiful shade of blue

Very pretty stone and I love that setting! Can't wait to see how this turns out.

I don't think you're crazy pants. I think sapphires in general photograph lighter than they actually are. I always expect blue sapphires to be darker than pictured.

That being said, I think after spending this week home sick with it I will keep it. I do love how blue it is.

Thanks Jereni, Catmom, stargurl78, diamondrnglover, and woofmama!

Beautiful sapphire. And I also really like the greenlake setting.

Thank goodness you're keeping it. It's a very beautiful stone.

I love that setting! It has sort of a retro feel and would look great with a blue sapphire like yours.

wonderful color. it will look stunning in the setting you have in mind.
