Gems from the dark deep recesses of the Chrono's mine

All beautiful, and some of my favourite colours. Can't wait to see how they all get set!

Oh, and I'm pretty sure Freke has it wrong, and that I was first in line. Yeah, yeah, that's it... :Up_to_something: :cheeky:

ETA: I hope it's not a full year before you get to enjoy their beauty again!

Missy, true or not, my mind feels that a bank vault is safer than one at home. I dread the thought of being forced to unlock a home safe by robbers under threat of suffering and death.

JF, it's not that the tsavorite and pink spinels are forgotten. It is my difficulty in coming up with a worthy forever setting design that they deserve. And trust me, I have many self proclaimed good friends volunteering their fingers and homes to take care of my gems. uh huh, good try.

Kelli, we all have to work to be able to afford such indulgence. :cheeky:

Bling Addict, you aren't the only one drawn to the BB blue spinel. The colour and precision cutting makes it attractive to most eyes.

Kim, I purchased my blue spinels between 5 to 10 years ago when choices were plentiful, overall quality was better and pricing was lower. Even then, it took several years of waiting and choosiness to get the right ones. I hope you'll eventually get your holy grail blue spinel sooner rather than later:

Thank you dk, Pregcurious, Phoenix and JLW for the kind words:

Kgizo, my preference is for low maintenance metals, high purity and heft, hence I gravitate more towards platinum and high karat yellow gold.

NKOTB, I really don't recall who called dibs first, so the only solution is to never part with the spinel. Shhhh....don't tell Freke but I'll get around to photographing more gems from the vault before the end of 2014. I drop in at least once a month.

Good call, and phew!!! :)

AH HA!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...most excellent...more Chrono bling photos....can't wait...

Oh Chrono! Amazing amazing! I want to come play in your bank vault!

I like the cushion tsav with the bigger spinel trillions too... that was my first thought when looking at those pictures, "why is the tsav in the box with the little spinels when it should be in the box with the big ones???"

The tsav looks very nice and I agree with the others that the blue spinel is truly lovely. I surely wish they were still around like they were in the good old days... :(sad

I was able to drop by the vault again this Friday to take a few pictures but could not afford the time to take more than these few. These pictures are worse than the previous ones with more shadowing and gem case glare though due to the lack of time for proper picture taking.

I think a good jeweller can swap out the "diamond" in the pendant for the newly tweaked sphene. This will be one of my 2014 projects. As for the emerald, it looks NOTHING like pictured. I'm giving up on it. ;(

There were a few requests for the tsavorite paired with the larger trillions so here are 2 pictures. The glare, shadowing and colour distortion is so terrible that I debated whether these should even be posted.

OOh, thank you for more pictures! Though you may not be able to capture the colors as they are I am (as others are too I know) enjoying all your eye candy!
And I hear you on the bank vault vs home safe. It definitely is safer. I just thought the trade off was worth it for me because I'm really lazy and would rarely make it to the bank vault to enjoy wear my goodies. But for sure bank vault is safer.
More pics please! :appl: Love the most recent pic color combo!

Rephotographed my 4.6 ct amethyst (showing red flash here but the blue isn't seen except outdoors) and my other 5 ct spessartite.

I could not capture the translucency of the carved jade pendant. I'm not even sure which picture is the front or the back because the pictures are too blurry to make out the details.

This was purchased during this year's summer vacation and I have yet the opportunity to wear it. The stones are white moonstones. The chain looks over-sized and I wish it were finer.

Chrono,
It should be easy to switch out the chain on that, but you probably know that already.

Thanks for the additional photos. :appl:

I think you should set the violet spinel with the trillions. The trillions, although very hot in color, actually bring out more of the violet in the spinel.

Your next project??? :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

1. Tsav looks AWESOME with the bigger trillions! It's hard to tell with the case glare and lighting, but I think they match better in terms of saturation.

2. Emeralds and cameras, man. *shakes head*

Thanks Missy, TL and Distracts. It was just too rushed the last time but I will try again in 2014. Hopefully, some of these stones will be set by then.

Wow at the tsavorite paired with the larger mahenge spinel trillions, and the trillion amethyst!

DK :))

WOW! Absolutely gorgeous gems!

Ah all these colours are incredible. I especially love the hot pink against the green tsav

Yes, the trilliants with the green tsav! That is gorgeous, spring in an instant. I also like the round pinks w/the spinel -- can't tell size, though, so would they be too wide together? It's a beautiful combination, like a southern flowerbed. The spess is hot summer sunlight -- have you thought about what to do with it? (I seem to be in a nature mood today, maybe because it's dark & gloomy.)

It's more trouble, but I would be jumping up & down if you could get outdoor pics of your emerald! Maybe it would cooperate w/the camera better? When you look at a stone & the camera display is totally different, it's so maddening. I have had many a talk with my camera; problem is, it only speaks Japanese.

Beautious stones, Chrono -- a trip to your vault would be a sure cheerer-upper.

Thank you, dk, Sebas and Scarlett.

JF,
I don't think the 2 round pink spinels + blue spinel will be too large on my finger, plus I like lots of finger coverage. Actually, I was wondering about making a 3 stone pendant with it. What do you think? A waste of gems since I can never see it on myself? I don't what to do with the cushion spessartite either...perhaps a pendant someday? If my camera spoke Japanese, this would not have happened; I would be able to scold it properly and have it behaving well. Perhaps it speaks some other language. I will try photographing the emerald outdoors in Spring/Summer when time permits.

Ooooh, the round violet spinel with the round pinks would look great. Please set those, it would be so sad if they were in prison for the rest of their lives. :blackeye: ;)

Gorgeous!! LOVE the cushion spinel, can't wait to see your full suite when its complete.

Resurrecting this old thread (your own fault, Chrono, for posting the link!) to ask if you ever set the tsav with the side Mahenges? Forgive me if you have, and you've shown it here, as my brain is filled up with useless information and cannot store anything new...

+1 on wanting to see if/how you ever set the tsavs and mahenges. What amazing color.

My shopping list for Yvonne included a green paraiba and ho pink spinels for a large Lily ring. Unfortunately, she couldn't find the pink spinels but your pictures have inspired me to wait

Second times a charm...As I seem to have missed these on first time around. Soooo deliciously colorful! Thx and hopeful to see more pretty, pretty jewelry.

The tsavorite and pink spinels remain loose and homed in the vault.

We need a new photo shoot ;-)
