Gene Tourmaline Photos

I think you can't go wrong in whatever you put it in. Its just that beautiful. But if it were me, I would totally get a quote from IDJ. Also, although my favorite of all the settings you showed is TL's halo (followed by the setting with two diamonds on either side), I would wonder whether you might end up wearing it less often as it would be, of course, beautiful but also a sizable ring?

I saw my ring in here, so I thought I would comment. Thanks for the kind words, and that setting was from this dealer. I just asked him for the setting, and he sent it to me, without a stone in it. If it's calibrated, it might work in a similar setting of his. This was before I discovered LOGR, but now their prices are similar. The diamonds were very nice too.

I'm kind of surprised your stone wouldn't go with rose gold, as it has a lot of blue in it. Rose gold tends to bring out the blue more, and yellow gold tends to bring out the yellow more, in light green stones that is. You may also want to get ideas from looking at paler emeralds. They tend to have a bluish green appearance similar to your stone.

I also attached a pic of a similar stone to yours (another precision cut minty Afghan tourm), and as you can see, white metal really brings out the yellow in the tourmaline. If you want more of the blue to show through, then I wouldn't go with white metal, unless you want more yellow.

Your stone is lovely, enjoy it.

Lovely stone! I've never seen a prettier tourmaline, I just love the color.

TL,thanks for the use of your photo of your incredible ring. White metal is not under consideration -- I don't think it helps the stone at all & I'm not really crazy about it in general. It'll be either rose or yellow gold.

I'm going to take a break from it for a while -- I've looked at zillions of settings, photoshopped several to get a better idea, not liked most of them. The tourm is on my desk in front of me all the time & I've found before that a stone tells you how it should be set after you live with it for a while. Some say so right away & others need time.

Thanks enormously for all your thoughts & help -- and I'll bring this puppy back when it's started speaking to me.

I'm very adventurous, but I would love to see it with side orange spessartites. I love mint and orange.
