I was searching for diamonds and came across this stone using Pricescopes diamond finder

It's a stone which was apparently run through both EGL and GIA. The specs on Solomon Brothers are for the EGL stone:

Shape: Princess
Carat Weight: 2.25
Color: F
Clarity: Vvs2
Cut Grade: Good
Table %: 79.00
Depth %: 67.40
Culet: N
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.40-7.39x4.98

But the certificate included is the GIA Certificate

The stone jumped from a J color VS2 in GIA to a F vvs2 in EGL.

Egl what? Israel? USA?

Wow, that's a huge difference. I think it varies though. Is this EGL israel? Sometimes EGL USA is a grade or 2 different but I would be surprised it would be that much of a difference. Scary and just shows that it's best to get a GIA cert if you care about the truer stats. Thanks for sharing this.

It is through EGL International. One of the problems is that most consumers have no idea that there is a difference between one EGL lab and another of the same name.

ETA I should give a kuddos to this particular vendor for disclosing the fact that the stone had two reports.

Yup .. EGL International so I am not surprised. For EGL-USA / Canada, I find them much better - usually the same for clarity and 1-2 grades off color.
