Gift Ideas for MEN? What Was A BIG Hit? I Need Ideas!

Guitar, cigars, XBOX . . .

Pretty much any piece of electronics. If it has a remote control, I want it.

I'm sorry when you are talking about life molds, can't get Kiss's plaster caster out of my head...

@PERRY: He did the life casting in art school . . .

Here's an idea for those that are into the finer things, :wavey: some fabulous hand made shoes. They look REALLY expensive when worn:

I got shoes (for DH) from these guys a few years ago, and they still look amazing. Even the heels are layers of hand cut leather. Interestingly, a friend of mine in London went to the New and Lingwood store and couldn't get the sale prices. So she went home and ordered it on the net!

I learned the "expensive shoes as gift" thing from my MIL. She bought DH handmade shoes and they lasted about 15 years. I bought him cheap shoes and they lasted about 18 months. I'm actually saving A TON of money with the expensive shoes. :appl:

This sale is only once a year, so chop-chop! :wavey:

1. Tickets to playoff hockey in pursuit of the Stanley Cup
2. Tickets to see comedian Daniel Tosh
3. Gift certificates to Lowe's or Home Depot
4. We were "frenemies" for about 10 years. I never like him much--thought he was a total prat. He thought I mouthy and incorrigible. We fell in love in December during a freak snowstorm that blanketed everything in minutes and had our first kiss. Thus, I hand-made him a ceramic snowflake ornament for his very sparse Christmas tree. To this day, he leaves the ornament on his fireplace mantle all year long.
5. An emergency kit for his car with a certificate to his favorite garage for tire rotation and inspection.

I really just tailor his gifts to whatever his interests are at the moment. I stay away from clothes, because he buys whatever he wants for himself and usually is persnickety about brands, fabrics, how tailored they are, etc.

Neato vintage tools. This guy appraises the antique tools on antique roadshow. I have bought a few tools from him, all winners.

Some things my husband has enjoyed and used a lot are a pair of noise-cancelling headphones, a nice monogrammed leather toiletry kit, a nice watch.... getting him some nice jams (he loves jam and honey with good bread for breakfast) for Father's Day this year, with a few small things from the kids.

I got my hubby a handmade pottery beer mug this year. He's thrilled!!

My husband travels ALOT for work, but he CANNOT spend money on himself. I think he has trouble indulging himself, so I always buy things that I think he would need or want, but would never buy for himself. Some items I've bought him:

A leather travel toiletry case (when we were dating - he loves it and it's held up through the last four years)
Tumi carry-on suitcase (this thing is almost indestructible and still looks new after countless trips)
Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones (hands down his favorite gift, especially when there are infants on a cross-atlantic flight)
Rubber-soled, leather dress shoes (so he doesn't have to also pack tennis shoes, but will go with his suits, I like Johnston & Murphy)
Gift Cards (to the Apple store for apps, itunes, Lowes/Home Depot, Golfsmith, etc.)
Golf Clubs

Also, he bought me a Nook for mother's day and I love it, but he is currently borrowing it while he is on a long business trip, so I am thinking of getting him his own!

soldering kit!

I just got tickets for an hour-long hot air balloon ride for the two of us for his upcoming birthday - fingers crossed he likes it! He tends to go for "experience" gifts, and he loves heights, so ... :rodent:

When we exchange gifts they're usually more about experiences than actual things--concert tickets, mini vacations, etc. Those are always the best, IMO.

The two best material gifts I've given DH were:
- An electric guitar autographed by the three guys in Rush (his favorite)
- Cash I'd saved up for a year so he could buy a new road bicycle (he wouldn't spend the money on himself. I made a little origami bicycle out of the bills.)

Memorabilia is always the easiest gift for the man who has it all. Does he have a favorite sports team? Band? Author? Artist?
Ooh, he's an artist--does he have a favorite artist? I'd get him an original piece of work from one of his favorites.

A guilt free weekend away with the boys! (ie. Rent a cottage for a weekend, provide steaks and bear for him and the guys and stay home)

Hmmmm........kind of was a gift fo me too!

This is really prosaic, but it is always a hit--A chilis gift card. My son works there and the husband spends every Thursday there as a boys nite out. After years of racking my brains trying to get him something he could use, I just give money to my son and the card has become a joint gift.

He also has part interest in two race horses so sometimes I get him a jacket, fleece or sweatshirts with the stable name embroidered on.

He told me the best girt I ever gave him was our son and to stop trying to top that!

My hubby is big into biking so a lot of the time I get him something related to that if I know what he wants. This year we got him Amazon gift cards, so he can buy some kindle books and biking stuff. He was thrilled. We already did Father's Day last night because he is working 3 days in a row and won't be home till Tues, when we leave again for our next trip together.

A kindle would be a great gift if he likes to read and doesn't have one.

I got my DH a helicopter ride over Dublin Bay for one of our anniversaries and he loved it. He's not very materialistic either so it's hard to buy him stuff but he loved the helicopter.

Ooh, I agree.
We gave my father a Kindle for his birthday in May, so now we had the easiest time finding his Father's Day gift--Kindle cover, baby! :cheeky:

Well I got him a 3 month subscription for good coffee (counterculture) and a burr grinder for father's day, and he wasn't impressed, said as long as it was hot and black he doesn't care what he drinks :nono: . But I think once we try it out he will notice the difference (received the coffee, waiting on the burr grinder).

What he really wanted is $150 in upgrades to our computer so he can play the latest computer games. So I guess I will give him permission to get that, as that is what he wants.
I guess what I'm saying is just like how we can be very um specific about the kind of jewelry item we want, guys can be just as so for their toys.
