I need your help! I''m trying to find a unique gift idea for my fella and I''m at a loss when I go shopping... we''ve done the video games, I made him a scrap book last year, fun gadgets, ticktes, etc. He''s not that into clothes so that is out. He does like good wine/liquor, sports, electronics/gadgets. Do you all use any fun websites when trying to find some unusual/unique/thoughtful gifts? Is there an "it" gift this year? Any thoughts would be great!

Don''t know your budget but how about:

-New Xbox 360?
-Poker Set?
-Sirius or XM Radio?
-Handheld or Regular PlayStation2?
-I-Pod/MP3 player?
-Car stuff: radio face, Automatic Starter?
-New Digital Camera?
-An authentic jersey of his favorite team?
-Wine of the month club/Cigar of the month club?

Ok I''m tapped!!!

I got bf a monogrammed BOSCA leather wallet. Seemed to go over well.

You can also try Red Envelope for gifts or Blue Fly for clothes. You can also try to find wine tasting classes that both of you can take. I custom made cufflinks for my bf for his birthday last year.

I got bf a Bosca wallet, too, for our anniversary. He lost his Gucci one during a date several months prior, and his replacement was starting to fall apart. He loves it... it's very "him."

How about a wine fridge? You can get them for under $200.00 at Home Depot and other places.

Good list! I had a remote starter on my other car, and now that I don''t drive it any more, and since it''s cold in the morning, I really miss it! Nothing like leaving for work on a cold morning and getting into a toasty car, plus it has the cool gadgety appeal that wins friends and confounds enemies. (Bonus for you too, as my gf misses it more than I do.) Pay a little more and you can get a starter/alarm in a single unit/installation.
For guys that are into tools, especially automotive ones, I HIGHLY recommend this site: www.thetoolwarehouse.net Great selection, and the best prices anywhere for most things.

Last Christmas I got my guy a set of poker chips and he loved them. But they weren''t just any old chips....they were the heavy, made with clay kind, regulation weight like they use in the casinos in Vegas. They came in a very nice silver case with cards and dice, etc.

But the best part -- I designed a custom label for all of the chips! He absolutely loved it. I told the company what I was thinking for the labels, and they made me a couple sample labels to choose from. They were very helpful and great with graphics on the computer. I ended up doing a Vegas-type picture with my guy''s initials on the chips. They came out looking fabulous!

I actually bought the chip set and labels from a seller on Ebay. I don''t remember the exact info but I was very impressed with the good price, aweseom quality of the set, and of course the personalized labels really set the gift apart from others. When I was researching the gift last year I found some other companies online that will gold stamp poker chips with your initials or a phrase, etc. but they looked too plain to me.

The only complaint I had was that the labels were printed and sent with the chips -- but I had to affix each label to each chip (and 2 labels for each chip, 1 for each side). After attaching 400 labels I was pretty tired.

Caligal, if he likes sports, Rawlings has great website with the sports fan in mind. I think it''s Rawlings.com or Rawlingssportsaccessories.com. They send me emails regarding sales and gift ideas but I must''ve deleted them all because I couldn''t find the link for you. Anyhoo, they have some really cool wallets and accessories for guys designed from baseball mitt leather with the same embossment on them. Last year, my husband''s favorite gift was from my mother, of all people! She gave him a soft-sided, insulated red nylon cooler with all kinds of tailgating supplies inside...ketchup and mustard, beer coolie thingies, plastic stir sticks with sports things on them, ice packs, etc. You could do that for pretty much whatever sport he likes, kind of like a gift basket, except the basket is a cooler. He''s gotten a lot of use out of it and he thought it was a really cool gift.

gift idea: how about nice flat pannel LCD monitor for the computer

I absolutely love mine!

These are great you guys- thanks!!!

This is what I am getting V for Christmas this year, I decided to do a manly man Gift basket.
an new 60GB Black iPod (cheesy engraving...)
2 Logitech Wireless controllers for his PS2
A new rosary
Leather portfolio with zip and can hold any PDA
An audio to audio cord so he can use that new iPod in his car anytime
gourmet varietes of jerky (neat flavored beef, elk, moose, buffalo)
TGUK sweatshirt that our song was on (old CD from HS hard to find, he knows and all cute about this one)

What do you get a guy who has everything? This year, since he''s saving for the ring (he''d better be!!), we''re going to fill stockings for each other, I still have my childhood one, and I have to ask his mom if she has his. He wants a new playstation 2 controller (FROM PS2, to some other store), since he uses mine all the time. We''re also getting him new contacts. We are so lame. :) But in the stocking that''s where I''m going to put all the good stuff. Fun little things. Maybe that PS2 controller. He''s a kid''s coach, so what kind of stuff would that be? What BIG thing should I get him? He has no time for handhelds, and I''ve done the wallet, shoes and all that... Not a big game player, unless it''s Madden 2005 on PS2. Men.

Amber- what sport does he coach? If basketball- then the John Madden or Phil Jackson books are both awesome- I''m sure you could find exs for other sports (used to date a bball coach can you tell?)! For stockings- I''d put in some expensive food/drink he loves but doesn''t buy often.

You know what''s sad? My BF coaches Football, Basketball, and Track. And I can''t even catch a ball. So, John Wooden is supposed to be the Wizard of Westwood, right? And I''d love to get him something from him- but last week his Brother gave him some autographed things necause his Father in Law works there! SUCKS. I was actually thinking of getting him some gift certificates for food places he always wants to go. :) To put in his stocking. I just emailed his mom to find out if she has his old stocking.

He''s so hard to shop for. My boyfriend is a muncher. I''m looking at Gourmet Popcorn tins as we type.
20.gif

They have some fun gormet popcorn tins at Target of all places- they look great!

What about a Denali Fleece with "Coach *****" embroidered on it? Or tickets to a major league game?

I bet Paul would love tickets to a game. Lucky me, my office has season tickets to the Dodgers, right on the dugout! He''s a real no fuss guy, too. Damn him.

All my mom knows to get him are socks! So sad. Target?? No Way! I LOVE Target.

I''m getting my boyfriend a leather valet with his intials on it from pottery barn. I noticed that he always lays his ring, wallet, watch and change on a hand towel on his dresser, so I figure he''d use it and appreciate it as nice and practical at the same time.

Just the fact that he lays his things down on a hand toweil sounds SO cute. I can totally see my BF doing that.

Here is a list that depends on the guy... (but most guys will qualify for one).

Tools. If they do woodworking even some spring clamps would be appreciated. Ask to see the shop, or the tools they work on a car with to see what brand they like. If they are using high quality tools stay with what they are using (Craftsman - Sears; Snap-on - traveling dealer - check with an auto shop to get the phone number). I once helped my sister in law buy my brother a drill press for Christmass (and I''ve rarely seen that brother smile so much when he opened the big box that appeared next to the tree while they was out shopping).

If work on cars: Do they need a set of car jacks, ramps, or a small hydralic car jack. Try to get the "heavy duty" ones (yes, they are twice the money over the cheap ones); but if the guy is into that he will really love getting the good ones.

Guns, and gun related items: Don''t buy him a gun unless you really know exactly what he wants (guys tend to be picky - but you might arrange a gift certificate at a local gun shop). Loading supplies if he reloads (or wants to). Look at the magazines he reads - does he leave pages open to certain brands (guys can be picky about which brand loading gear). Does your area have a shooting range: A membership or prepaid sessions might be just the thing.

Fishing gear. I''ve never known a fisherman who has enough fishing gear.

Magazine subscriptions for a favorite hobby or interest.

Business supplies for guys who are working in a side business.

Finally, I will accept diamonds from any of you

Any of the standard pricescope vendors can arrange delivery if you wish to keep it a surprise.

Magazine subscriptions for a favorite hobby or interest.
My husband''s favorite gifts have been magazine subscriptions from his sisters. They''ve included Maxim (his favorite for girl pix and articles, yeah right); Car and Driver; Sports Illustrated.

I''ve also given him an MP3 player, noise-cancelling headphones; computer speakers; cordless keyboard and mouse; various controllers for his online gaming....my hubby is such a gadget geek.

How about sports gear: New basketball/cross-training shoes, caps; ski jackets; ski pants; tennis racket; basketball; etc etc.

I''m thinking of getting him an electric razor. I haven''t really looked into it yet, but I know he needs a new one!

I have to agree with the *it* gifts seeming to be Xbox and Sirius/XM stuff. My bf''s parents are getting him those this year though.

Things I''ve had luck with in the past? DVD sets of favorite tv shows, a new watch, iPod, sports tickets, signed pieces of sports memorabilia.

This year my budget isnt'' too big so my bf is either getting a cashmere sweater or a new North Face. I haven''t decided. Then I always end up throwing in random things like dvds, books, boxers and/or my body wash that he loves hehe...he is too embarassed to buy it for himself and the one I leave at his place for myself always mysteriously disappears so I try to throw in his own with presents. The other thing I''ve been thinking of is a subscription to the Economist (he''s an econ dork!)...but since he''s still a student I know its a pain to keep switching addresses on subscriptions so I might hold ou ton that one.

Monarch, I love that tailgating cooler idea! I am so going to do that for my little brother when he graduates this year. Going to a big football school so I think that''ll come in handy!

Just as an FYI the Xbox 360 is having major software problems...crashes and the like. People are having to send them back for repairs.

I swear I have the hardest boy to buy for ever... In the past I''ve given him courtside tickets, an iPod, wallet, playstation 2, furniture, movies (he only has 162 ...), and the list goes on and on ... I''m out of ideas. He is one of those rare boys who likes, no Loves to shop, so that makes it really hard. He''s not so into tools, is super picky about his clothes, owns over 100 ties, owns all the sporting equipment he could ever hope for, has a huge tv, owns a new computer, has those fancy poker chips (and looooves them... so do his friends), a digital camera, believe or not a leather valet, (he doesn''t smoke or drink so that takes out some options) .... hurumph!!

Oooh, there''s always that entertainment system with all those fancy speakers .... how much does one of those run?

Depends on the brand and which components you buy. I love Bose though...very nice sound.

I guess I''m not the only one with problems with what to get him! My BF is super hard to shop for, and everything I would get him, I already have! Including the magazine subscription, wallet, watch (two), shoes, movies, CDs, boxers, razor, stereo and all that!! I just don''t know what to do. We live in an apartment, so any time something needs fixing we call the landlord. I was thinking of playstation games and the controller (the dog ate his) and maybe one of those old school table top football games.

I found a really cool "plug and play" snowboarding video game with an actual snow board you stand on at Kohl''s- looks like fun! And I bought him the new Star Wars III PS game as it was 1/2 off at Target- so I''ve resorted to buying him more video games! I think my final gift will be a laptop bag/carrier so I am looking at options online and will be outlet shopping this weekend. I''d like to either get him a nice leather one or something embroidered with his initials. For those gals who have boyfriends who don''t have the Sirius radio yet... it is a hit! He LOVES it as he''s on the road all day doing sales.

Amber- there is one of the games that switches from football/soccer/etc... not sure where I saw it online, but it was a basic store like Target or Sports Chalet. Do you have a game room of sorts? You could do a whole theme for that room- like if you get the table top thing or Play Station- then you could add nice frosty beer mugs or a neon sign, or something along those lines.

Thanks for the suggestion of the Bosca wallet, i just ordered one... i like that you could do a monogram... i wonder if he will even notice it????

i think the most unique gift i ever got him was a telescope and a start from the international star registery.. and named it Team JC because our initals are JC. he thought it was a great and unique gift... it was fun trying to find our star and just looking up at space together...
