how much do you quantify the girdle into your overall evaluation of a diamond?

i see alot of diamonds don''t have a medium girdle..... but it seems acceptable to have variations on girdle thickness?

Hi Sparklyh,

This link from the Pricescope Tutorial goes into details concerning girdle thickness. As to evaluating girdles it can depend on the shape of the stone and the cut quality, normally one will see more variance with some fancy shapes than with top cut rounds. Also very thin or extremely thin girdles need careful inspection to check for potential durability issues, it isn't alway the case that such girdles will be troublesome but always best to check.
