Thought I'd share, plus a few questions.

These are my two new acquisitions (Happy Birthday to me in a few weeks).
1. Peter Torraca chrysoberyl, formerly owed by another pricescoper (y'all probably know who). Took me years to do a setting, and this is temporary as i don't like the prongs (like the galley). I got tired of visiting it in its box. It is almost too glowing for outside pictures.

2. Pink tourmaline (sugarloaf, i think) in Diana Vincent setting.

Some questions -- is the tourmaline rubelite, or is it too pink and simply "pink tourmaline". It seems to hold its glow, even inside.

How fragile is a tourmaline cab? I just love this ring, and can imagine wearing it a lot.

Thanks.

Happy birthday! I know it's not here yet, but I think it's great that you got something nice for yourself. I love the tourmaline cabochon and the setting is very graceful. Such a Beautiful combination, pink and gold together...I can't say anything about strength aside from the hardness, toughness stuff which one looks up, because Ive never worn a tourmaline ring and had real life experience with one. I have a tourmaline necklace though which I'm careful of. I say Just try to enjoy it but be mindful of your hand.
The crysoberyl is a lovely color, and the setting works nicely with it, temporary or not. Really beautiful rings! Thanks for showing them.

Happy birthday! I love both our rings and think they are beautiful!

Both are lovely rings. Happy early birthday to you!

Happy birthday! Both rings are lovely. :)

Sorry for the terrible pictures. The chrys is so bright outside my camera can't focus. Here is a vendor shot of the tourmaline ring -- that is more presentative of the color. Also a picture of the chrys.

The tourmaline ring has a high karat gold and Matt finish look which I just love. Such lovely work in the band. Just curious...is it by chance a Denise Betesh piece?

The pink tourmaline ring is made by Diana Vincent, a local artist who apparently won some awards. I looked on her website, and this ring is nothing like her current work. So perhaps it is old stock. The ring was purchased as used but appears to be unworn. This is just my style -- I wasn't expecting to buy anything finished as I have a lot of stones to set. Oh, well.

It's such a great find. I love that it's made my an artist. It has that really good quality look. There is an extra fineness to the proportions which comes with having studied and practiced, selecting specific gems and making the setting for that gem.

I understand about the setting issue. It bothers me to have unset stones for some reason. Though I don't have many, I'm focusing on setting this Fall and Winter.

Happy birthday! Enjoy your new rings in good health! They are both such fresh, vibrant colors!
