Thank you @lovedogs and thank you for being an ear and person to bounce ideas off of even outside of this project.
I keep putting my ring finger up next to the screen to see how it would look on me.....
@canuk-gal, thank you so much, that was my reaction when I opened the box
@123ducklings, aw thank you! It’s kind of fun to have a “famous” piece. I’m super happy with how it turned out.
@foxinsox, thank you! It’s really an interesting diamond in how it changes in different lighting. Most importantly it looks good even in my dimly light house.
BTW, love the Snoopy photo
Super excited to be part of the David Klass club with this latest addition!
When I originally bought this ring it was in a 10k yellow gold setting, nice enough, the diamonds in that setting were really sparkly despite their size. However I had trouble with the prongs, even after having them worked on, they just weren’t right. So the decision was made to go for a forever setting for the diamond.
When I originally reached out to David I asked him to make a Dahlia setting for me because it is my favorite of all time. The ring would have been all yellow gold but I was concerned about losing the contrast from the halo in the original setting, so that was out. Next I suggested recreating my Martha Washington daisy ring, this way I would be able to have the contrasting halo AND extra finger coverage. However, when I got the cads with all the elements I was looking to incorporate (diamond halo and two airlines) the diameter was coming in at 19mm!! I felt that was too much for me for daily wear. I needed something in the middle, a happy medium.
Decided to have a look at David’s IG, maybe there was inspiration to be found, and there was! There I found the most lovely pendant, bezel set with an engraved halo! I didn’t know at the time that this was a PS’ers piece, I pulled the inspiration for the rest of the ring from another found on his IG.
I decided the ring would be in 18k yellow with a platinum halo. The inspiration pendant had a flower engraved in the halo at the top, so I added flowers to balance out the design on the south, east and west sides. An airline was also added because I wanted a very vintage look drawing inspiration from my Martha ring. Then of course we added milgrain to the bezel and halo. When I bought the diamond originally it was sold to me as 1.10 OEC but it is an old mine cut weighing 1.18 champagne in color SI2 clarity.
Adore this ring, it is truly a masterpiece and a joy to wear. It is a nice weight at 7.43 grams and the diameter across is 13.20mm, perfect amount of finger coverage!
So first up the cad:
Then David’s pictures:
Some pictures I’ve taken, these have not been edited apart from cropping but it shows the ring in all different lighting.
i don’t how I missed your ring @YadaYadaYada. It’s gorgeous. I love the color of the center stone. It’s such a soft pretty color. It looks so beautiful on your hand
