Good bench jeweler recommendation in NYC?

Hi Pricescopers,

My platinum wedding band is cracked at the bottom of the band. I was shocked when I noticed it - could it be from gripping the subway poles too tightly? That is the only time my hand grips hard...

Also, I have a few loose stones that need to be tightened in both my engagement ring and wedding ring (which is a 5 stone band.)

I also have some other jewelry inherited from relatives that I'd like to possibly have refashioned and brought up to date.

Please let me know if you have had this type of work done.

I can easily get to the diamond district but the booth where my husband had this set made many years ago is gone, so we aren't sure where to go.

I can happily suggest Greenwich St. Jewelers downtown; they have their own in-house bench (IDJ will send it out -- not that there's anything wrong with that, but some people prefer to know exactly who will be doing the work); if the head of their bench department is the same one I last dealt with several years ago, he's been with them for years; and they have a laser welder, which is what you'd want to be employed to fix your platinum wedding band:

Thank you, Whitewave and MollyMalone! I appreciate the recommendations. If anyone else can chime in, the more sources the better. I am hoping to take the items to a few different people, since for some of the pieces a good eye is needed to see how to refashion them.

I second Greenwich St Jewelers. I just (a month ago) got a hand-forged ring from them and it’s great. I’m very happy with the detail work. In the mean time they also did a couple of small repairs for me that were fine.

I second IDJ...also I've been recommended steven kirsch in the past for halo work, I'm not sure if they do repairs though.
