This thread makes me wonder about something. How much time does a ring maker spend to make a ring? I mean, if the ring costs, say $2000 (made-up number), and they spend 50 hours, then they''d make $40 an hour. Or 100 hours would be $20 an hour. Or 200 hours would be $10 an hour. I''m just curious because when they keep a stone for weeks and weeks, are they not working on it some days at all? You''d think if they worked on one ring until it was finished, it wouldn''t take more than a couple of weeks. I realize it depends on the complexity of a ring, but I wonder how much time it really takes to do the actual work.
