I have a pack of glass straws, 3 straight, 3 bent and I love them. I put them in the utensil cubby in my dishwasher and it's easy to tell when they are clean. They are also pretty thick and have survived me dropping them a few times on the tile. Oops.

I have plastic, silicon and metal straws. I’m addicted to Diet Coke and pouring it over my front teeth will erode them so I straw it. I was super concerned about the little turtles with straws stuck up their noses until someone pointed out we don’t have an ocean in Illinois and the straws get recycled or go to a landfill. The landfill in my town was turned into a ski hill after it was full.

Usually. I probably use 1-2 at home each year and maybe a bit more if I make an iced coffee to take with me. I need to keep plastic bendy straws in case my grandmother visits and needs. She has advanced Parkinson's and has days she can't drink without a straw. Can't be glass or metal for safety reasons and I don't feel silicone actually comes fully clean.

Oh! When down with my back, the bendy straws helped me be able to drink without having to move.

I have a pack of glass straws, which I keep meaning to use and never do. I drink a lot of coffee and black tea, and I know they would help with tooth-staining.

Also, I know that a lifetime of drinking hot drinks can contribute to some kinds of oral cancers, so that's another reason to use straws. (I'm guessing that having a thin stream of hot liquid in your mouth is better than the hot liquid being spread around in your mouth as a whole.) And I do really like my hot drinks.

I never have any other kind of straw. I just don't use straws.

Thanks for the reminder to actually use my glass straws, Kenny!

We have some plastic straws and I recently bought some skinny stainless steel straws. I can't stand ice hitting my teeth and I hate trying to drink around it. I actually have straws in my computer bag for when I travel to make sure I have ones I like (I detest paper straws).

We have metal and silicone reusable straws. I need a straw when I drink something with ice in it, which is rare and we don't use them a lot.

Probably psychological, I prefer my cold drinks served on ice in a glass with a straw. (Not that I can't make due without but for some reason, I just find it more enjoyable - just like some people like beer out of a bottle, glass or can).

We do reusable plastic cups with straws that I use sometimes but it isn't the same. Not a fan of paper straws. Metal straws remind me of drinking from a can (not a fan either). Always worried about cleaning opaque straws as well. I thought I hit the jackpot with compostable straws but then I learned they only decompose in the right conditions. I just ordered some glass straws based on comments here...fingers crossed!

The glass ones can be weird at first but I adjusted to them unlike the paper and stainless steel.

I love straws. Paper straws are great. I have glass straws that I use with my reusable thermal cups.

I avoid plastic anything as much as I can. As far as I'm concerned, plastic is responsible for the rise in autism and serious allergy in children in the 21st century.
