Very new at looking at diamonds and have read some of what everyone here has to say, but its still hard to decipher what is good and what isn''t and whether there is value in a loose diamond. So, please critique the following asscher on details alone. (I know "storm" is a stickler for pics, but just trying to get an idea).
Thanks for your help.
GIA certified
1.22 carat asscher cut
5.75" x 5.71" x 4.99"
SI 1
Color I
Depth 75.8% (one that concern me from what I have read)
Table 64%
SLightly Thick - Thick
Polish - good
Symmetry - good

Price 3600

way way too deep and I don't trust si1 asschers there are some eyeclean si1's out there i suppose but I haven't seen one yet.

Its cheap for a reason.

Thank you thank you, as I guessed.

welcome

Storm, what would you say your minimums for an asscher cut stone, in clarity, color etc. If this has been answered a million times before I apologize, but couldnt find a thread.

I would also try for better than Good/Good Polish and Symmetry. I think H/VS2 is a good cut off but it really depends on how color sensitive you are and the specific diamond. If you find one of Cymbrie''s thread she has pictures of 2 I color asschers and one looks significantly ore white than the other. Also, Tier Hog had a gorgeous Royal Asscher that was a J that looked very white in pictures and most conditions but looked warmer in other conditions indoors. Good luck and try to get pictures of the asschers you are looking at!!

depending on size and the persons color perception h or i for color with G being very safe for most people.
A lot of people will accept a little color for the larger size but beyond I it becomes a case by case decision and if your keeping it secret I wouldn''t go there.

a checked vs2 for clarity. Not all vs2 asschers are eyeclean but it is rare for one not to be.
For that reason and many others asschers cant be drop shipped they have to be seen by the vendor and get pictures if buying online.

Thanks again storm, the very first diamond I looked at in this exhaustive process was a 1.21 H VS2 for 4650 at a jeweler, I didnt get the other specifics, but I guess I was somewhat on the right track. The guidelines will help alot.
