I hope everyone is ok and safe!

So those earrings were one of my projects - taking the stones from old jewelry and creating something new. The small marquise stones were set in a yellow gold ring I never wore. They always seemed to have a yellow tint. Now, in their new setting - rose gold - they seem to be grey. Certainly not yellow. In direct sunlight they look whiter. Otherwise grey. I like the contrast, so it does not bother me. However, I am wondering if they are grey diamonds or if them being "grey" is due to the way they are cut. I've never really heard of grey diamonds before my PS time, so don't know much about them. Also I know little of marquise cut diamonds.

You definitely can get grey diamonds - @MakingTheGrade picked a big beauty of a grey diamond recently and they show up on Leibish in the fancy colours section. Yours look quite a dark grey, do you have more pictures?

Thank you! It's rather interesting how very different a stone can look when reset.

I tried to take a picture in the sunlight as well - looks whiter. IMG_7974.jpeg

Yup I just got a fancy gray diamond. Love it!

Oh! That IS gorgeous! Am I right, that it is grey in the shade, indoors and whiter in the sunlight? The colour change seems extreme with my small marquise stones. Not sure if it is due to the cut, though.

Mine is actually the opposite. Grayer in direct light and whiter in shade lol
Though still notably gray in all light compared to my white diamonds

Diamonds can be funny stones at times...always good for a surprise!
