He finally decided what style of ring he liked and we've just placed an order with DanM - :D very excited.

He's having it prong set E-W, with millgrain on edges and gallery, 2 engraved and oxidized fleur de lys on each shoulder and wheat engraved on profile.

ETA: I wasn't sure about having the stone prong set as I haven't seen a man's ring like this, but the example ring we found does look substantial enough to be a man's ring and we really wanted to let light in to keep a bit of flash to the stone - so hopefully it will look OK.

P.S. Does anyone know the best way to send insured package from UK to USA? I was going to send International Signed For, but I believe it's a PO Box address so signed for won't be accepted, will it?

Sounds like it will be gorgeous, can't wait to see the finished ring!

Ooh...any teaser example pictures?

after responding to the initial thread, i now see this one: did you go with a Rhino inspired ring, then? or one inspired by the photo Treebean posted?

either way, you can't go wrong. its good to see a man wearing a color stone.

and i admire the ability to commit to a setting in such a short amount of time!!!!! it took me like 8-9 months! just like having a baby....sigh.

Sounds like it will be really awesome! Cannot wait to see it.

Here are the inspriation pics :D

Send it Registered Post to them. Daniel M will send Registered post complete back to the UK - they did for me. Much safer whilst only a little bit slower than Airmail, plus the taxable/contents info is located inside the parcel, making it safer from stealers.

Hi, I've been on Royal Mail site and when searching for registered it comes up with International Signed For/Recorded - is this what you mean?

I was going to send it that way (it's how it was sent to us), but because it's a PO Box I presumed it wouldn't be delivered as there's no one to sign for it?

The top ring looks masculine enough to me. The engraving not too fussy and overdone.

Ask Karen before you send it about people signing for their PO Box address, but I believe that's what I did (it was a while ago now...)

Thanks natsplat. I posted it by AirSure in the end, as there wasn't much difference in price even with extra insurance.

:D it's finished!!! We are so pleased with the finished ring and Paul loves that he will have something a bit different, but which totally suits him and we can't wait to see it real life, but I'm afraid we won't be adding any hand shots until the big day - just 6 weeks tomorrow!!! :appl:

Now for a couple of pics

Congrats on the finished ring. I love the color of the sapphire! :appl:

Very nice, and well crafted!

That's gorgeous! I love the detailing. I want one just like it!

Oh I saw this one while browsing. It's unique and beautiful (handsome?)! Congratulations on your impending marriage!

It is so neat when someone describes something and then, before our very forum eyes, it becomes reality! It looks really nice. Handsome comes to mind. And thanks for not bezeling that stone - great color.

HI:

Oh, well done! Of course post handshots when you can

cheers--Sharon

You've probably told us somewhere, but I can't seem to find the metal composition - is it silver, white gold or platinum?

:D thanks for the lovely comments everyone and we're glad we changed our mind about bezelling the stone as it looks to have kept a bit of flash.

The metal is 14k white gold.

particularly love the fleur de lys, are the cut outs?
