So, I was sure I liked my hair at my hair trial a few weeks ago, but now I am not so sure it is the best choice. The style is 1/2 up. The up part is pulled up into an arangement of curls. The down part is loose and curly. I like it except for a few things. One is that the back of my dress is pretty, and it will be covered if I go 1/2 up. Another is that I am not sure the curl will last from 2:00 (When we leave for the chapel for pictures) to 5:30 (when the ceremony ends). The last thing is that there is a good possibillity it will rain on the day of, and I know it would be better to just wear it all up if it does. My Bridesmaids vote 1/2 up (They think it''s a shame not to show off long hair). My fiance has mentioned that he loves my hair all up, and my mother is voting for all up. So, now I don''t know what to do (which is scarey with only a few days to go). I have been having hair nighmares all week. What do you girls think. Here are some photos

hmmm that last one was very poor quallity. I will try to find another.

I like it, the back is a tiny bit busy to me but I love the front view. As for covering your dress, I have no answer, and also, do not know the staying power of your hair when it is curled. Can you experiment with different products for hold? Also, I am not a total up do girl, so it is hard for me to comment, though I think there are girls who look increndible with their hair totally up.

Don''t kill me, but I don''t exactly love the half up do, especially from the back. I vote for all up personally as long as YOU will be comfortable on the day of with your hair that way.

Aw, I won't kill you! lol. I actually like my hair both ways: All up or half up, either way (as long as the styling is good. If it's not I get very frustrated and angry.) I tend to alternate between half and all up styles.

I really am thinking all up would be safer in case of rain! Plus, I'll be less worried about it falling as far as dancing goes I supose. Plus, Up may be more formal for an evening wedding. I dunno. I need a look that will still work with my little tiara thing though. Any ideas?

Maybe something like this? Since it isn't all gathered up tightly I think it still shows off some length, but the pieces that are loose should be lightweight enough to hold on to their curl.

I vote for all up! It''s more formal, plus long hair looks great in an updo, you will have lots of volume and you can still leave some loose ends out like the example someone else posted. Also you won''t be messing with your hair for photos and your hair won''t compete with your dress or cover up part of it.

I like that updo, but maybe if it were more finished looking.

hmm...before I go all up, I do have this half up style to consider. This is me in a friend''s wedding. I liked all of the photographs of myself from that day (even the candid ones where I have silly expressions on my face), and I normally do not like pictures of myself AT ALL. I think it was b/c the hair style photographs well. Another BM had hers the same way and looked amazing in all of the pictures too. So, I am thinking that if all else fails I could go with this style except with some curl in it (no parts pulled up like in the other one. But, since I like it straight in this style too, if the curl falls, I won''t be upset about it. What about this one:

hmmmm....bigger

Here it is in action

Hi Fancy, I would consider again how your fiance imagines you looking on your wedding day. When my husband and I were engaged he told me he wanted me to wear my hair down for the wedding and I was afraid it wouldn''t last all day. But it ended up lasting and I was sooo glad I could wear my hair down for him. So if likes your hair up, I''d consider that again.

But I still must say that I do like both styles of 1/2 up you posted.

I think I would like all up or the straight half up better than the curled version. I think the curled half up looks a bit prom-y. I would maybe like it better if the curls were rolled instead of done with a curling iron and teased a bit. Usually, that look stays longer. Often when you have it curled with a curling iron and then you spray it, it ends up falling and you have straight chunks of hair stuck together.

Ditto the part about it looking "prom-y." It''s beautiful when it''s straight, but do you want to cover up that part of your dress? And more importantly, I think your soon-to-be-husband''s opinions should matter more than your wedding party, so I''d reconsider wearing it all up.

i say up. it''ll stay out of your way during your big day. plus it''ll hold better if it does rain. or the yucky humidity that can come with rain.
i think 1/2 down looks less formal. sorta i-could-have-done-this-myself look.

I agree. That''s what made me say, ohhhh no. I liked it at first I guess because of the novelty of it (Yay! I have hair and make up on, look at me!) But, then I looked again, and I sort of felt like I was going to a sorority formal. (I have wonr my hair simliarly to several)

Ah, I''m so backwarks. For prom both years in highschool I did low chignons with some pretty bling (Did them myself), which to me seem more wedding-y than prom-y (but it was easier for me to make myself than a crazy up do.) Then at my hair trial, I ended up looking prom-y.
Oh well. I have an emergency trial set up for Thursday. I am going to get her to do three things. Take a million photos, then look at them all day thursday and friday and decide before Saturday.

Maybe I will just shave my head and glue the tiara on.

That is good advice! My stylest did mention hot rolling it instead the day of. That''s what I have done in the past with half up culrs- hot rolled it then touched it up later. I didn''t know it would make a difference.

if fi likes it up, wear it up.

Your hair trial pics are fab...it''s very very similar to what my wedding day hair will be. With that said I really think you need to take into consideration what your FI has said about loving your hair all up. My FI loves my long hair down and has mentioned a few times how he hopes it''s down for our wedding. Luckily I prefer down/half down hairstyles for brides vs updos. If I were you and knew FI loved my hair up I would be getting an updo. Good luck!

Yeah, he does like it up. But he has said too, "Wear at least SOME of it up." then "But I like it all up." then "well, as long as you feel beautiful because I know you won''t be completely happy if you aren''t happy with your hair." (sooo true). He is pretty sweet. He liked it a lot at the wedding where it was 1/2 up and straight. I think he just likes anything he hasn''t already seen on me/seen recently so he has time for the "wow" factor to build back up.

What do you think of this idea

i really like that idea! it showcases your long hair in a classy, sophisticated and purposed way. best of both worlds!

I LOVE that

Well, since I know you won''t hit people, I''ll join the "promy" camp, which is what I totally thought.

I love the last two you picked. I really am not for the updo with tendrills everywhere. That also looks promy to me, and if for any reason the curls lose their bounce, it just looks messy and half done. I know brides think the soft tendrills around the face makes for a romantic look but I am not a fan (especially of the longer ones), primarily because you''re often trying to get the hair out of your eyes and it is distracting in photos if it doesn''t stay in place.

lol noo... no updos with tendrils here! I agree with you on that for sure. It looks SOOOO pretty on some people, but on me it is just distracting. I did that once for a college formal, and I liked it in person, but didn't like it in the pictures I saw later. I will be trying the updos with a side part, and they will probably be a little teased on top. I really feel a little bad for my beautician making her try more things so close to the date, but--it's better to figure it out now than later, right?

Oh, I LOVED your hair trial pics. If mine had turned out like yours, I doubt I would be changing my mind so suddenly.

i agree with others that "up" is more formal and, in my opinion, much easier. you don''t have to worry about restyling at all. plus i think it ends up looking much more "timeless" in pictures.

i don''t know if you''re looking for other pictures, but do you remember gingerbcookie''s wedding pictures? they were all to die for, but i loved her hair!! i loved it so much, that i copied it myself.

justlikegingerbcookie.jpg

Wow! That hair is GORGEOUS! Thank you for pointing it out.

yeh do a search for GBC''s pro pics. her hair was so beautiful. classic. timeless.

I''m partial to updos myself..I loved GingerBCookie''s hair and JCrow''s hair so that''s sort of my bias.

That said, I think your half-up looks really nice from the front, but I''m not a huge fan of the big mass o''curls on the back. I like the straight look better in the bridesmaid pics, but not sure if it really looks bridal or not.

Honestly, I''d probably go with whatever look looks more like the everyday Fancy605.
