Halo vs no halo

How big is your stone? Do you have a link you can give us?

I haven’t confirmed which one it will be exactly, but the ones I’m looking at are 0.80-0.90 and my ring size is a 4.

This should give you an idea of what a .90 will look on a size 4 finger. If you want a bigger look/more blingy look than go with the halo. If you are more
conservative with your jewelry then maybe stick with the no-halo look.

Edit...if you can give me the exact measurements of the stone you are looking at I can enter those numbers.

Edit...the default .90 cushion came up as 5.6 x 5.6 x 3.6

I’m just torn, so wanted opinions. I’ve googled images of both, and I love both lol.

Ok, so here is the mock up with your stone size. I also ran as a comparison a 1.6 stone to sort of give you
the idea of how big it would be with a halo (I think 1.6 size might be a bit small if you look at the stones overlapped image.
I think the halo might be a bit bigger but not really sure.

That’s a tough decision! I have a solitaire and I love the way it shows off my diamond however, sometimes I want a halo! There are so many beautiful options out there, lol! Have you had a chance to try on both style rings to see if that helps narrow it down? Both rings are beautiful!

@jwcjewelry unfortunately, I have tried both styles, and it only makes it worse! lol. My boyfriend told me to have everything ready for him to start ordering by the second week of March - so I’m freaking out here. I’ve tried things on, but sometimes feel overwhelemed in those stores because the sales associates are really pushy. I know theyre trying to make money, but dang, a setting isn’t an easy decision for a girl!

img_0706.jpg35A6AE90-806D-49BC-87DF-7E3AF220B728.jpegI think the PS community is kind of split....some like solitaire others like halos.
The avatar for me is my wfe’s ER, but it was born a solitaire.
Have you looked at the websites for Briallantly Engaged, Victor Canera, or Steven Kirsch? These are popular PS vendors for halos.
Solitaire......have you looked at the Vatche U113, the ladies on the forum really like it.
Good luck.

Do you plan on upgrading? If so, I would suggest sticking with a simple solitaire and saving the halo for the upgrade stone (if you still want a halo at that point)

I like halos, especially air line/gap halos.
However, it does not suit every shape or stone.
DK :))

Halo! You get extra sparkle with a halo.

Everyone here will have a different opinion, both options are nice, me I'm a size whore, I'd pick the halo any day of the week.

Yup .... me too!

I'd choose a halo :cool2:

Oh I know what you mean!! It’s definitely hard to make decisions under pressure. Maybe try taking some photos of both options on your hand so you can think it through at home. Most sales people don’t mind if you take pictures.

I vote for the halo! I have both, but I like only my OEC in a solitaire.
If you don’t like it, it’s much easier and cheaper to reset in a solitaire to your first anniversary.

I love both but for ER I prefer no halo and for right hand ring or a non engagement ring I love a beautiful halo. Get the ring you want now and then for a future occasion, as finances allow, the other option for another ring. After all every girl should have both in her diamond repertoire don't you think?:halo:

I love halos, and I think the examples you shared are really pretty. Extra sparkle is always nice!! One other helpful thing with a halo is that it can offset the DSS that might otherwise set in :mrgreen2:

If you don’t get the halo, does that mean you’d be able to use that money towards a larger solitaire?

+1 for halo

-Out of all the C's, size/carat is the most visible of them all.
-Halo easily adds another 2mm-3mm to your rock without having to pay thousands more for a higher carat. (makes 1 carats look like a 1.5+, 1.5 carat a 2 carat+).
-Having a larger rock will hold off wanting to upgrade. I have never heard anyone say my diamond is too large I want a smaller stone, almost always the opposite. :mrgreen2:

Team halo for me as well.:wavey:

Y’all are making this even more difficult! Lol. I’ve took pictures in both, but when I try on a halo none of the options have a cushion cut diamond, usually round. @m-2-b your ring is beautiful!

My personal preference is no halo, partly because I want the big stone to get all the attention for its beauty, and partly because most halo settings are not well done (unless you get a $4-$5K custom setting)

Here’s a 0.80 halo and a 0.80 pave setting.

I vote for the one that puts the biggest smile on your face and makes you gush all over!

Other strategy as another poster said....buy the solitaire and if you still want the halo down the road, you can upgrade.

Anyway, beat of luck.

My total budget is $5,000 for the setting and diamond all together. While the pave setting is cheaper, I initially fell in love with halos. I also like that this particular halo is a cushion halo. My diamond as I mentioned before, will be a cushion cut - and I’ve had mixed feelings about the pave setting with the cushion cut diamond, because since it has prongs, to me it makes the cushion look more like a princess and I’m dead set on making sure there’s no mistake that it’s a cushion cut.

I vote Halo! If size is important to you, then i'd recommend halo- it definitely adds more!

Here's a picture of my Crafted by Infinity (CBI) 1.50 G in a round halo setting (my ring size is also a 4!)

Here's a picture of it in a simple solitaire setting (I used one of those clamping tools that look like a solitaire setting to get a general feel for how it would look)

Granted, i totally understand wanting your diamond to shine by itself, without the distraction of all those melee diamonds in a halo setting, but like i said, if you want the illusion of a bigger diamond go for the halo.

Both settings are classics- just boils down to whether or not u want that extra bling and size.
If you ever get tired of one you can always switch out the settings

I hope this helps!
