Hi,

It has been a while since I''ve written. It''s good to be back.

I had originally wanted to get at least 20% off the sticker price, but to my dismay, they played tough with me. I was really really disappointed but didn''t give up and started calling all the HWs in the U.S. until I found a person that would work with me. I guess 19% is not bad at all huh? With the Yen strengthening against the dollar, this ring ended up being really cheap!

Kaypso - I did not have to pay tax as the ring is being sent elsewhere. I will have to pay tax and duty once it arrives here in Japan. Being a fairly smart shopper, I researched this before buying the ring and found that if I have HW state that this ring is for my personal use then the duty would be calculated at 60% of the value of the ring. This will mean that I will only end up paying around 5.5-6%! Much cheaper then NY state tax or a flight to the U.S. to get it! I hope you will be happy with the ring your BF choose for you!

Thanks again for all your comments and support ladies. Be on a look out for lots of pictures when the ring arrives.

I should get it by the end of April or early May. I''m dying to see it!!!!

It is perfect! I can''t wait to see more photos. Congrats!

Kissmark- I think I''m going to wear it as an ering. I am thinking of getting the matching band... oneday.

Maybe I can get some help as to what to do with my RB. It is now set in platinum which I wear with a thin band. My wedding ring is worn by itself and is set in gold. At the time, I felt that gold would bring the pink diamonds out more so that is why I did that. I am thinking to reset my RB in gold to go with my actual wedding band. Do you think it would look odd to wear white and pink diamonds together if they are not in one ring? I could change the wedding band to platinum but I have a gold watch with a pink MOP face that matches my ring so if I reset, the watch would not match anything I have. What should I do????

Hi Ginzagirl: Thank you so much again for the info! You''ve really made my day happier with the prospect! When we went into HW, with just asking at the end, the SA offered us 10% off and said if we had it mailed out of state then we would not have to pay tax, so that would be roughly ~18-19% off total. I''m glad there is a possibility of more negotiation off the sticker price! We did not push it that day as we were just doing our preliminary search of rings. We''re both trying to be very cautious about this entire thing.

I really have become obsessed about rings ever since I saw the HW, trying to make a list of alternatives for him if he decides not to go that route!

Again, I can''t wait to see your pictures, and once again Congratulations!

Definitely consider Engagement Rings Direct as one of your alternatives. They make a stunning Harry Winston replica and are great at picking out amazing cushions. $ will definitely be easier on the pocket than HW! Best of luck!

First off congrads on the engagement/purchase!...

This is actually my first post, and I quickly wanted to introduce myself. I've been reading past forum posts for about 6-mths and finally found the exact thread that I was looking for...(thank you ginzagirl

). You're information was perfect, because your situation mirror mine.

Similar to yourself I'm not local to the N.Y HW, and thus need to find other means of communication. Since I'll be travelling from Toronto I would like some guidance from your experience. Some of the questions I had are as follows:

i) Was your negotiating completed through e-mail, calls, visits?
ii) Do you think they honor consistenty when offering discounts for consumers.
iii) Can you recommend the sales person you were speaking to? (since i live in Toronto, the N.Y location is most convinient for me)
iv) Lastly can you provide a price range in U.S. dollars for the ring?

I apologize for the numerous questions....but I would appreciate any comments or feedback you could provide....also if you would like to share comments off-line...my e-mail is my user name @hotmail.com.....

Thank you and enjoy the ring....

Imdanny- I got the 1.33 E/VVS2. It faces up larger than the 1.51. Here are the measurements:

1.33carat (7.19x6.78.3.87)

1.51carat (6.76x6.45x4.13)

Are my assumptions right???

Faces up larger!!

E/ VVS2. I think you made the right decision!

How exquisite. I can't wait to see it!

Congratulations.
