Hello everyone =)

I''ve been on pricescope for a little while and I think you guys are amazing!
After so much research and learning, I''ve finally decided to get my e-ring from
Mr. Harry Winston. But I need some help!!. I cannot decide between the following
rings:

#1 Radiant cut
1.31ct
F color
VVS1 clarity
6.47X6.24X4.09
65% table
65.5% depth
Excellent Polish
Good Symmetry
No Fluorescence

#2 Radiant cut
1.35cts center
F color
VVS1 clarity
6.71X6.13X4.00
68% table
65.3% depth
Very Good Polish
Good Symmetry
No Fluorescence

I know they are very similar, but one thing I don''t really understand are the
measurements. Are they very significant? Which one would you prefer? Any help
or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Welcome! All fancy cut stones need to be evaluated with a picture, at least. Can you get close-ups of these two rings? You really can only choose a round by the numbers.

Thanks for your reply diamondseeker.

Here are the pictures of the rings. It''s all I have, they were sent to me by the sales agent.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Hi Olivia,

Is it possible you could post the images directly please or links which take us directly to the images? They are just coming up to a mailbox...

Thanks! How exciting, I would love a HW ring! I take it you prefer VVS clarity? You could drop to VS comfortably but that is a personal preference.

The first stone is slightly more square than the second. You can take the length and width measurements and key them into the shape selector on this page and it'll draw the shape for you based on what you've input and tell you its ratio. Sometimes you have to hit refresh when the page first comes up to see all the diamond shapes, radiants are on the far right. Hope this helps.

I'm interested in seeing pictures as well. Radiants are tricky fellows and are hard to judge by the numbers. My personal preference is leaning toward the second stone you posted, simply because I prefer the table to be larger than the depth, but again this is my personal preference. As the others said you can't judge these by numbers alone, they really need to be seen.

Congrats on the HW. I went with a HW radiant set in halo micropave e-ring (2.32 ct, E, VS1)

The radiants I looked at had considerable variation in appearance. The one I fell in love with was actually cut much more shallow than I would have expected (55.6%). You really cannot trust numbers when it comes to radiant diamonds.

It sounds like you haven''t personally laid eyes on the rings. Is that true? You should have your sales associate bring in several. My associate brought in 4 rings (all stunning).

Please post pics or direct links to your pics... thanks.

Thank you all for your replies =)

I don''t know how to post pictures yet =(

I''m going to see ring # 2 this week. I asked the lady to send that
one because it looks better to me than the first, and also because
it''s a little bigger. I''ll be looking at a cushion too (want to
compare their sizes). I''m afraid that the 1.35ct radiant might be
too small in person because I tried on a 1.55ct radiant and it was
perfect, but the price was way out of the budget.

I''ve been going crazy for the last few months. I couldn''t decide
whether to go non-brand and get a bigger stone or go brand and get
a smaller stone. My boyfriend strongly disagreed to go brand name in the
beginning because he didn''t want to get "ripped off" (he''s a business
man) but I kept on telling him that I preferred quality over quantity.
At least that''s what I thought because I saw my friend''s ring and all
of a sudden I wanted a bigger diamond! and said, "forget Mr. Harry or
Cartier." The problem with that was, I had a hard time finding a good
jeweler locally and so I started looking online. I found some good stones
on Bluenile and started looking for an experienced craftsman, so I found
Leon Mege based on the reviews here. I really like his work and one thing
I must have are the double split claw prongs, but then I read that Leon
does not do replicas and he''s in NY. I live in CA and it would be hard
for me to fly over there.

And so I went back to Mr. Harry because I don''t have to get a stone and then
have someone set it and who knows if they''ll do a good job because I value
craftsmanship and I know I couldn''t go wrong with Mr. Harry. But I still
consider getting a bigger diamond online because that''s what my boyfriend
would have preferred and I want him to be happy with it. He''s ok if
we go with HW or Cartier now "as long as it''s within the budget."

Have some of you been in this position? If so, what did you guys end up
choosing? I need your advice now more than ever. We want to get married
by the end of this year and he wants to propose already but I''m taking
too long deciding. Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

Olivia you could email the pics to admin, and they will post them for you.

I love HW and would personally go with one of their rings if it was for me, but it depends on your preferences. If you are shopping online I can't stress enough how important it is to shop with a vendor who can inspect the diamond for you and provide detailed photos of each diamond and ASET images. Radiants are impossible to judge by the numbers so photos and other images are essential.

Hi Lorelei,

I''m new here and haven''t learn how to post pictures yet, but I
will try soon =)

I asked the lady to look for a diamond with a lower clarity and
better color or bigger diamond with a VS1 or VS2, but that''s all
she could find based on my requests.

I am not much good with posting pics so I wouldn''t worry!

If you are interested in a cushion and want to shop online, then I would suggest contacting Mark T at-

www.engagementringsdirect.com He is in NY and can provide photos and a very expert eye especially with cushions. He might be able to find you a great radiant too.

Also Jon at www.goodoldgold.com sometimes has beautiful cushions and radiants so could be well worth contacting him also.

You will not be disappointed at all with a HW ring. I would be hesitant to shop for a radiant diamond online as there is so much variation in cut quality (that can only be appreciated by laying your eyes on several diamonds). Also, radiants have so much unique personality. Some look more like chunky cusions, some have more kalidescope effect, etc.

May I ask the price points your CA (assuming Beverly Hills?) Harry Winston is quoting? I know there is some variation in pricing depending on which boutique you visit. I did negotiate a discount, however, my boutique may have already been jacking the price some?

Hi asforhim,

I agree with you, "You will not be disappointed at
all with a HW ring" and I''ve always dreamed of having
an e-ring from Mr. Harry.

The sales agent is from Las Vegas, I contacted her
after reading that two ladies got their rings from
her and both got discounts. She''s going to send
the rings to the boutique at South Coast Plaza mall,
which is about 2 hrs away from where I live. I cannot
fly to LV right now.

I didn''t know there was a price variation in pricing
whether you buy it in CA or NY or LV. Where do you
think it''s lowest?

May I ask, what kind of discount did you get?? and which
boutique did you visit?

For ring #1, it''s 21900 and #2 is 22400.

The pricing seems reasonable. I would think you could get 10-15% off. They are generally more willing to go from a 100k piece to say 85-90k than drop the price significantly on the entry level pieces, but in this economy who knows. Certainly don''t be afraid to ask.

Leon may not do exact replicas, but he does a fair bit of work for Harry Winston if I''m not mistaken, so you''ll be getting the same quality, plus something that is unique to you but combining all the elements that you like in the HW.

asforhim:

I already got a discount, but just need to see the ring.

so which boutique did you visit and what kind of discount
did you get?

Hi Pandora II:

Thanks for your reply =)
I wouldn''t mind having Leon Mege do the setting for me, the
problem is that he''s in NY and I can''t go over there.

Olivia,

I ended up getting a 15% discount (original 72k), but I purchased just before the economic melt down. You may be able to get a better deal now???

asforhim:

wow, you got a great deal! =)

did you get it at the Beverly Hills boutique?

did they offer you 15% off right from the
beginning or you had to negotiate several times
until you got 15% off?

Sorry for asking so much, but you''re helping me
a lot!! thank you!

You don''t need to travel to NY to get a Leon- only the stone needs to get there

Personally, I would definitely prefer a Leon ring to Harry Winston- ALL of the amazing quality, but none of the ridiculous mark-up. Save the extra money... or get a bigger rock
9.gif
But then I am not a "name" person. You''ll figure out what is right for you!

Purchased in Chicago... the original price of 72k for a 2.32 ct stone was a huge premium (IMO). Sales tax is also an issue in chitown (almost 11%). So I was persistent on the discount.

For a fabulous 1.3 ct stone (purchased elsewhere) your looking at about 7-10k and the micropave halo setting is going to cost atlease 7k if not 10k (from the likes of leon mege), so 20k for a HW is not that big of a stretch. It is forever you know...

asforhim,

Great job on getting that discount! I hope I''ll be able to do the same
when I choose the ring.

I like the ones with the baguettes. Although the micro pave halo setting
is beautiful, it didn''t look good one me. I tried to post the picture,
hope it shows up

The ring I just posted is #2 and I''ll be taking a look at it soon =)
