Has anyone bought from Hound & Eagle? Have you seen the IG craziness? (A buyer beware PSA)

It just gets worse and worse.
 
I don't have to read the whole thing (I read most of it) to see that there is adjudicated fraudulent activity reaching back over 20 years. How do these people stay in business? Does IG just let anyone continuing selling no matter the kind of comments we've seen posted?

It’s maddening because they are posting items daily.

Yes. And jewelry is not protected at all. Always pay by credit card or paypal.

Yes, but that is about purchase protection. That's not necessarily the same thing as disabling sellers who don't follow their terms of service which state:

These sellers are not delivering goods that are paid for. That is at a minimum misleading and fraudulent and generally illegal. There should be some way to report and get them removed. However, as @mrs-b said, they would just come back under a different name and continue the scam.

I’m surprised their instagram isn’t suspended, I just found this post and went and looked on Instagram and so many of the jewelers that I follow, follow them!! If i didn’t find this, I would think they were legit since the type of people they have following them.

That following aspect is suspect - I have followers. FOR WHAT? I make/sell nothing, hardly buy anything and I'm 68 with food stains on my clothes.
 
IG will crack down when they get sued for facilitating fraud, and not one moment before.
 
It’s pretty strange. I follow a lot of jewelry vendors on Instagram. Yet I don’t get many posts from my followed jewelry vendors in my feed. But lately I’ve been getting at least a few Hound and Eagle “posts” for jewelry items for sale per day.

No idea why they are one of the only jewelry companies advertising on my feed since I don’t follow them.

So I checked and there is a way to report posts as “Scam or Fraud”. Click on the three dots. If they are running a scam does it make sense to mass report them to Instagram? I haven’t done anything, but the option is there for people.
 
Hmm, buyer beware.
IG isn’t a safe marketplace for buyers as there are no requirements or restrictions, create an account as you like, post up pictures you like and see if anyone bites. You don’t know who is behind the account or even if the photos are theirs.
It’s a free to use marketplace which suits sellers and the lack of governance makes for a scammer haven. Theres a reason why some sellers want wire transfers or similiar ie no recourse for the buyer unless through the courts, and good luck with that.
Only deal with sellers you can authenticate and/or who accept payment methods that provide you, the buyer, with recourse if nothing ever arrives.
eBay and Etsy, to a lesser extent, offer good buyer protection. There are requirements for sellers to be able to sell, there is transparency as to the reviews given, the number of sales and the length of operation. This doesn’t guarantee total buyer safety but it goes a long way in that direction.

It has been going on for quite some time!
They often operate within the gray areas of the law.
Buyers beware!! I purchased via wire and was never shipped the item.
I am due a refund, "Tera" will string you along for months but has yet to
refund me. Report Brian and Tera to IC3, FBI data base for online fraud.

Same experience, wired payments but never received the items they sold to me.
Months and months of being strung along with all sorts of stories and subsequently no refunds. They never return phone calls to the number listed on
statements.
** If you have been defrauded, file an IC3 report w/ the FBI, FTC report,
email a report to IG and report to attorney general.
 
My stomach still does a 180 when I see this thread pop up.

You know that gorgeous TB Starr Edwardian moval they listed for $79k? I messaged them about it a few times, it’s gorgeous. After going back and forth, they offered me $64k ( wire price) I was *this* close to buying it after the Erstwhile ring I was dreaming about sold. The only reason I didn’t jump on it was my hubby. He said he didn’ t care for movals.

Good thing you did not wire monies! I wired monies for an item
I purchased last year and they never sent me the ring, nor will they
refund me. Hound and Eagle is being closed, it was announced yesterday.
Beware of this "Picking Pawn" site, same people!

Same people, they kept the money I wired for a ring and they never sent the ring,
nor will they refund my monies. I have been re-requesting for the last 6+ months.
Anyone that has been scammed by them, file an IC3 report, FTC report and CA Consumer Affairs report and Attorney General report.
