Has anyone got 14k or 18k yellow or rose gold from DK to show me the difference?

Here you go! The best I could do with a live photo to try to capture the color of both the gold and the stone 20210316_161143.jpg

Oh gorgeous, that is a very white N! And the yellow gold is perfect with it! I’m pretty sure your gold is not as yellow as DK's though. Here is my ring that he made me. It’s the one on my little finger with the sapphire. The emerald on the left is also in 18k yellow and even though they are not next to each other you can see there is a big difference.

Edit - To clarify I love my DK yellow gold sapphire ring, the color is just what I wanted. I’m not bashing his gold at all I’m just not convinced his 18K YG will be a good fit for my diamond/the look I want to achieve.

For sure. Looking at your photos, I think you are right that DK's 18K looks yellower :) Deliciously golden, but his antique gold looks soft and lovely!

I had planned to have DK do my wedding ring, so this color information is good to know!

...Also, Holy Moly my ring needs a scrub. :oops2: Those poor bezels...

I think the antique gold @mrs-b posted is gorgeous...and it kind of leaves me wondering why I don’t have anything in that color yet.

I have A 14k and an 18k rose gold from DK. The 14k shows more pink / rose. The 18k is more of a golden rose, which is just lovely. I‘ll try to remember to post pics tomorrow.

I’ll try again with natural light tomorrow.
my photos are coming out with the rose looking super pink, the yellow looking green (??) or the antique yellow looking orange, different lightings alternating on which one is whacko.

disregard the rose color in this one. The antique is less yellow than the 18kyellow, but it’s not orange - it’s a bit rosy/brown.

this one shows the rose and antique yellow color more accurately.

all these are from DK

All of these gold colors are so beautiful and making me question my cluster ring gold color choices. I did platinum for the head and 18k YG for the shank. Now I’m all flustered by the 18k antique gold, 18k rose gold and 18k ‘apricot’ gold. Are they going to hate me tomorrow if I email and ask if they’ve cast my ring yet :oops2:

ETA: please let us know what you choose!

I am fast forwarding to the end. I didn't see your stone, but I have very strong feelings about metal color with lower color stones, having a couple myself.

If the undertone of the stone is brown, then definitely rose gold!!!

If the undertone of the stone is yellow, then definitely yellow gold!

I don't have any yellow gold from DK, but one daughter has an 18k yg pendant and I don't feel like it's the same as your sapphire ring. The other has a 14k rg band and I adore the color, but not with a yellow undertone diamond.

Here's the 18k yg (sorry it's blurry but it's the only one taken outside in natural light).

They are all beautiful! However, I will say if you wear other 18k gold jewelry, I'd stick with the 18k. I did my Casablanca ring just like that with platinum and 18k yg.

I have a happy (small) collection of things in mixed metals. Initially I thought yellow gold though because that’s the one ring metal I don’t have so I’ll probably stick with that! It’s so subtle but that 18k antique good seems so special! I’ll have to look around for more comparison pictures :D

Thanks so much for those. That 18k antique gold looks quite different from the 14k antique gold linked earlier. The 18k rose gold is a lovely color as well. My head is spinning!

Thanks. I agree they all look good! No I wear absolutely everything with the exception of that very bright modern rose gold as it does not suit me.

No I think my ring is different I asked for super rich at the time so maybe I have another yellow gold mix!
I’m pretty sure my stone has a yellow undertone so I will avoid the rose gold I think.

I never realised about all these choices either it’s slightly mind blowing!

I’m wondering if my ring is especially hello gold. If you look at the pendant diamond seeker posted that definitely looks less yellow.

Thank you. I think 14k rose gold is definitely out of the equation but I am wondering about the 18k from your description!

i cannot seem to capture close enough color from what I see to what’s on my screen, that its misleading. It shows the difference in colors - but not the actual colors to naked eye. Mostly the std yellow color is not coming out ‘right’.
my rose gold is also misleading, as the solder used to connect the plat bits is much yellower (and somewhat spills/melds into the top view areas of rose) than the rose gold itself and how it looks under the band not next to any platinum.
so I’ve done nothing but confuse the matter - I apologize.

the antique is less bold, more subdued color than the std 18 but it just doesn’t depict that.
I think if I were you at this point and wanted to make a purposeful detailed choice like this - and not do the ‘wonder if’ later on
and didn’t want to buy thin simple bands, or send stuff back/forth-
id ask them if I could buy a casting grain of each color/karat you are wondering about . And wipe them down with a polishing cloth If needed.

This was harder for me to get accurate colors of gold than gems- geez.......

Well thank you for trying! What I am actually going to do is get his opinion on what will look best. Looking at what everyone has said I think I will be deciding between 14k gold, 14k antique gold, 18k antique gold, 18k rose gold and peach gold. Jeez that’s 5 potentials! Anyway, I will ask him what he thinks (bearing in mind I am not looking to play up the color). Hopefully he might be able to grab some pics of what it looks like next to the different types then I can make a decision. I already know it does not look great against grey metal because it was sit in that when I bought and IMO it did nothing for the stone. Here are some shots. 3 different hands with very different skin tones.

Edit - sorry the last two photos aren’t great they are screen grabs from videos.

some of the casting companies have photos of the different alloys online if that's helpful. i thought 18k yellow came in one color and was surprised to get a ring in a more brownish tone from one jeweler, i don't see that color much in stores but really like it.

Oh wow thanks for this. I guess it makes sense that there are so many variants. I’m just hopeful they will be able to guide me on this one!

This thread is incredibly helpful, thanks for the wealth of knowledge.

I’m with @Rfisher on this one. It was much harder to get pics of the gold coloring vs stones. I’m not super proud of these pics but I figured I’d post them anyway. All rose gold with the exception of one 10k yellow gold ring for reference (don’t judge the bent shank...I’ve been wearing every day for 18 years now). I tried taking them in different lighting. The 18k rose is a little more gold than the 14k and, for some reason, the 18k with my mint garnet (that’s the one w/ 3 diamonds on the side) is a tad more golden than the rest of them.

What are the stats on your diamond? I know you said you don’t want to play up the color.

Thank you! Definitely a very clear difference between the yellow gold and rose but it doesn’t look as rosy as I expected though the 14k is definitely pinker than the rest.
It’s so hard to know without seeing in person, would be so much easier if I lived in LA and could visit DK in person!
The diamond is an antique cushion GIA graded N color.

I believe @CHRISTY-DANIELLE has an N colored diamond as well. She went with white (or platinum) and it suits her diamond perfectly. My diamond is an O color. I went with 18k rose, not because I wanted to bump up the color, but because the rose gold made it shine.

I guess if all else fails, you could ask DK to put your diamond next to each metal color and see which suits you the best,

Yes I plan on doing exactly that.

I second this opinion - I find that this warmer gold is exactly like Portuguese gold - not too yellow with a bit of warmth to it. I inherited quite a bit of it from my grandmother and it’s so lovely especially over the years.

Pictures please

Love your sapphire ring, that blue is heavenly
