Has anyone sold on TheRealReal?

Thinking of selling a few pieces I don’t wear much anymore. Has anyone sold on TRR and what was your experience? Thanks!

I've read some negative articles about them. Here's one:

I guess it depends on what you're selling, but Ann's Fabulous Finds seems to be one of the better ones. Most of these sites focus on designer jewelry and purses. Not sure of the best place to sell other things.

I’ve sold a fair amount on TRR. Mostly clothes, handbags, and shoes, but also some less expensive jewelry pieces (e.g., Tiffany sterling silver). They take a large commission, and they don’t pay out until the item sells, which sometimes takes many months, things wind up on super clearance, etc. I’ve found their customer service leaves something to be desired overall. They also have a reputation as a pretty terrible employer — all the way up and down the foodchain — which puts me off further.

I prefer both selling and buying on Fashionphile, although I don’t have personal experience consigning fine jewelry with them. Equally hassle-free (compared to dealing directly with weirdos on eBay, for example), but they pay you for your consigned pieces as soon as they receive and authenticate them — no need to wait for them to sell. From a buyers perspective, I think they do a better job authenticating (or at least this is the case with luxury handbags).

I did, but it was several years ago. My experience was OK. Jewelry went very quickly, clothing items sometimes sold instantly and sometimes never sold. Ugg shoes and boots were extremely popular, but were often returned. Eventually they would get sold.

IIRC @MarionC here had a very bad experience on The Real Real.
And if you do a search there are a few threads that pop up.

Any advice/UPS France will not deliver ring to me. Holding it at airport.

Does anyone have experience with this problem? I bought a ring from The RealReal in the States and they shipped it to France UPS. After much back-and-forth with UPS in France they have told me that they will not deliver my ring to me because UPS France is not authorized to transport items...

So, Preloved jewelry isn't anything I've considered before. I don't buy much, don't buy often, and don't buy for myself, so I didn't want the stress of buying and never really being sure of what I got. But my wife had used therealreal.com for something once, trusted them from their brand...

The RealReal warning--I feel so stupid; returns using their label do not automatically carry insurance

I bought a Tiffany etoile ring and it was too big so I returned it, using their shipping return label. They did not warn me that it did not carry insurance. Apparently it was stolen somewhere en route and the box turned up at their warehouse empty. I am calling them now but now sure what I can...
