without your rings?

I am today! Oh gosh, I''m going to spew out a bunch of excuses but hopefully its forgivable?!?
I''m one of those people that leave the house and return through the door at least twice to get something I''ve forgotten, a scarf, my cellphone, my lunch etc.
Today it is my ring, on the drive to work I realized it -- way too late!

The worst thing, its not the first time! Being engaged for the past 5 months, I think I may have forgotten the ring about 5 times. . so average once a month!
The very first time was on the way to my cousin''s wedding, a 4 hour drive out of the city. I ''blamed'' my FI, he had cleaned it very gingerly the night before (he''s such a cutie) and put it away in my jewelry drawer - which i actually don''t use...So I didn''t have a ring to show our engaged status and he was pouting the whole weekend, worried that my relatives thought I had no ring...Ok there is no blame on anyone for this but myself!

Right now I keep my ring in its velvety ring box, with the lid up, on my bedside table. I''m a visual person, so I have to see it to wear it. But of course, sometimes I just forget...

I''m so worried I"m going to make this in to a very bad habit. And I don''t want FI to think I don''t want to wear it, of course I do, I''m just a really bad person at remembering things when I leave the house! I keep fingering that empty space right now.. its not there!

Anyone else done this by accident lately?

Oh and I have to add, I don''t wear jewelry that much, only for special occasions, so it was a bit getting used to wearing the ering the first few weeks.

Lol chinglish!

We always walk to the neighborhood coffee shop on the mornings when we''re together at his house...he had me rushing around last Sunday as he wanted to get back before football started, and lo and behold, it was still on the leather valet I keep it on on my nightstand. As we were walking I told him not to rush me like that as I DO feel completely naked without my ring on...I''ve always been that way about my jewelry and my watch. If it makes you feel any better, I''m particularly anal about my watch and I''ve forgotten to put that on 3 times this week!

Try not to stress too much...I don''t think you''re doing this intentionally, especially if you''re not someone who had worn jewelry on a daily basis until now. Maybe your FI could try to help you remember to put it on?

Just a thought, but I have been hanging mine on a giant hook that I suction-cupped to my bathroom mirror at night (from the bathroom section at Target), smack dab in front of me while I''m getting ready. Brushing my teeth is the last thing I do before I leave the house. I have my baby toothbrush I use to spruce up my ring during the week, so I do this right after brushing my teeth and put my ring on immediately after. Throw a little lipstick on and I''m good to go! This routine has worked for me all but one time, but I realized it before I left the house and made a mad dash back up the stairs to get my ring!

I also no longer leave my ring on my nightstand while here at home as my giant 23 pound feline has taken a liking to my sparkly and can reach the nightstand from the bed...if I wanted him to continue living, I had to move my ring to a safer place. At FI''s, I just bought a pale green (girly!) leather valet at ROSS for $2.99 and it''s about 5" square...holds everything quite nicely!

Good luck and hope that helps!

Yes!! Right now!

(this is part of my test to see how many times I can whine about my ring being away from me on PS while it''s being sized

) It definitely feels weird.

I''ve done it once by accident... two times I''ve rushed back to our apt. from the parking garage to put it on. I don''t always take it off to sleep... if I did, I bet I''d forget it more!

I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I sometimes leave my rings at home just because there are many days I just don't want to wear any jewelry. I was without my rings for a few weeks at a time (once when it was being sized--Musey can relate :) And once when it was being repaired) and I kind of enjoyed not worrying about it, though after the first couple of weeks I was ready to get it back.

I have forgotten it several times as well. In fact, a few weeks ago I left it at the tanning salon while running a bunch of pre-wedding errands. Oops! I couldn't even go back because I was so busy, so I called them and said "Um, yeah, did anybody turn in an engagement ring?" I think she was more freaked out than I was, but luckily it was right on the counter (I was putting on lotion) where I left it. Leaving it at home? Fine. Leaving it out in public? Bad!

ETA: "there are days I don't want to wear any jewelry" sounds much different than "there are days when I don't want to wear anything"--the latter makes it sound like I belong in a nudist colony :)

STORY OF MY LIFE!!!!!!

I''ve done it once since we got engaged. It felt SSOOOOOO weird! And naked! And odd. Like, almost dishonest or something.

I''ve done it a couple of times - and I feel very odd.

I have a placeholder ring that we bought after we got engaged so I had something to wear while the e-ring was been made, so I''m wearing that now while my ring is off being fixed and wedding band being made.

I hate that feeling of being naked. Since the ring had to be sized, I was without it (only for about a day, but still) and it felt so strange! Otherwise, I really haven''t forgotten it. I won''t wear it if I know that I am going to be doing something very hands on or dirty, and it feels weird - but at least I know it''s safe. Of course, I''ve only my ring for a couple of months.

I feel that way when I also forget my cell - this almost anxious feeling..

I have to leave my ring on at night, I think because of past trauma haha. When I was younger, we had (still alive by the way, 16 years old!) a cat who would take our jewelry we had out by our nightstands and in the bathrooms. We heard a clink-clink-clink noise in the middle of the night and finally caught her in the act as she took a stud earring and carried it in her teeth to the bathtub where she would play hockey with it. Mom once found what was the end of a chain from a necklace about halfway down the drain. Luckily the pendant was pulled out to safety. We don''t have cats in our place now, but I think the thought of the ''thief'' still makes me paranoid!!!

My current ring has pearls and hopefully "the ring" will have opals, so I always have to take it off and a number of times I have forgotten. It has happend less and less frequently with time though and my FI never minded. Of course, my mom didn''t even wear a ring for the first 20 years my parents were married, so my perspective might be a bit off

I usually make a point to put my engagement ring on while I''m getting ready for work. I''ve forgotten a bunch of times though and have just been too lazy to go back in to get it. I don''t always wear it when I''m home on the weekends but I try to. My FI has to remind me about it once in a while. At first when we got engaged and I''d forget it, my FI would give me a stern look...jokingly of course.
