I've been keeping my eye out for a small brown diamond.
Pinkish Brown not an expensive color, but what happened in this one is just a very rare phenomenon.

I found out that it sold (not to me ;( ) only 90 seconds after being listed, and they feel the rare effect is the result of how a cloud affected the light.
How this could be is something perhaps only a GG or a cutter could explain.
I think it is a little gemological marvel.

FCDs never fail to surprise me.

Wow, that is awesome! What do you mean by a cloud? It has such perfect symmetry.

Could the crossing effect of the colours be due to reflection (not reflection of something external but internal within itself)?

very interesting stone.

Unique. I don't get what they mean by a "cloud" either -- maybe something got lost in translation? Imagine having that to look at every day!

In layman's terms, a cloud is a group of inclusions clustered together, giving the appearance of, well...a cloud, hence the terminology.

How funny. A collectors piece for sure.

I'm definitely no diamond expert, but the first thing that popped in my head was something in the crystal structure, perhaps to do with twinning. I'm probably far off- I don't know diamonds. I'm a CS guy. Inclusions would have to be pretty powerful, I'm thinking, to project this kind of color pattern. Like a cloud of microscopic metallic platelets, interacting with the cut of the stone. It's interesting, thats for sure. To me, diamonds are boring :errrr: , but this one is interesting.

Love colored phenomenon stones, as do many others, apparently. Thanks for sharing that one, Kenny. :wavey:

Wow! I have nothing important to add, but wanted to comment that it's a beautiful stone!

wow kenny I would have loved to see your pictures of that diamond! thanks for sharing-that is so cool

Well, there's something you don't see every day (or never before, in my case!). That's fantastic! What an interesting stone! :appl:

Kenny, come back and explain what causes its symmetry, please

I do not know.

I'll ask Leibish if they can respond.

They're on independence day holiday. Won't get a respond until Sunday our time...
