Have you switched from a diamond to a gemstone with diamonds?

Go for it.
I’m trying to be patient waiting for my delivery so I too can join the “sapphire and diamond” ring club.
Can’t wait. 35BD3570-EE61-48AC-BC20-AB2D3308C1CF.jpeg

Beautiful setting @Bron357 . I can't wait to see your pictures!

IMG_7325.JPG IMG_7324.jpg These are horrible screen shots I took with my phone from my computer because I can't seem to save the photo directly - but the one on the left is 5.14 ct $7885, unheated 18K and the one on the right is 5.39 unheated $11985. If you're interested let me know and I'll share with you her shop information. Terrible that I'm hesitant to advertise for her because I stalk all of her stuff! GIA certs on both of those^

I wish you would share the shop information. I would love to look at this sellers items.

As much as I want to keep her to myself, I'll share because I think it's the right thing to do and I would want someone to do the same. She does put a little added sparkle to her pictures, so take that aside. She'll send videos and more photos if you want but from my experience, she's very reputable. If something doesn't sell, she'll drop the price and re-list it (usually Thursdays). From what I gather, she's into interior design and she says she got her jewels from a friend - no real story but I 100% recommend her. Her store is Old South Jewels on eBay and for some reason I can't post a link but you can look it up. All I request is if someone buys from her, they tag me and share their bauble and experience!

Thanks!
Added her to my sellers list.

Bumping this thread as I have an update.

The sapphire does not have a cert. This ring is over 10k- from Spark Creations. Does anyone know of the? What advice would you offer- stay away and look for a certed stone?

Thank you!

I hate comparing, and I loved Diana, but I really disliked the color of her sapphire ring. These rings posted in this thread, the same princess styles, really put her sapphire to shame. You all have such gorgeous rings!!!

This includes that red spinel ring, that I thought was a fine ruby at first!!

Bumping this thread for the OP

Me: seems pricey and not certed so it’s a definite no for me. How many carats is the sapphire? It seems rather small from the hand shot so 10k is really quite high. You can definitely find cheaper ones and then maybe you can have both rings instead of one?

That is stunning. Trade trade trade!!!

Take that with a grain of salt, as I wear a diamond eternity band as my engagement ring, and I would have a hard time making that choice myself.

EDIT: I just saw your update - that price tag seems high to me also, but it is quite beautiful.

Thanks for weighing in @icy_jade and @violet3 - I decided to pass for now. I am not quite ready to trade in my 5 stone. I've been wearing it more and I'm torn so thats a sign for me that I'm not ready.

The sapphire is 1.64 tcw btw. So lovely.

Ok can definitely do better with 10k. If you ever change your mind do come back and ask the more experienced PS-ers for help. I’ll still go with having both rings. If you are fine with <2 ct it should be relatively affordable (vs diamonds).

Just for reference I was eyeing a 3.4 ct heated sapphire recently and it was less than 3.7k after conversion. Even if you go for unheated which is around double the price (I think), can still get a bigger stone than 1.6 ct.

Doesn’t look so big on my man hand but 3.4 ct is quite sizeable on most fingers.

Squee!!! Me!!! Apologies IMG_6231.PNG for the picture spam....different lighting to show you.IMG_5964.jpg IMG_5893.PNG IMG_5828.jpg Most women have diamonds and I wanted something extraordinary - and fell in love with this baby shown in my profile pic. I LOVE that it is different and not mainstream. I get tons of compliments on her!IMG_5699.jpg

Do you mind if I ask you the dimensions on your beauty as well as your ring size? That's the amount of coverage I am looking for in a sapphire.

Thanks!

Sure! The sapphire is 10.76 x 8.63 x 6.42 and 5.05 carats. I have very long fingers and big hands but my ring size is 5.5. I probably should've sized it 5.25 but my hands swell in summer so I just went with the 5.5. (I did tell my husband that my hands were big so I wanted more substantial coverage - he died laughing at me. LOL)

Thank you so much...that helps a lot until I can go look at some stones in person! I'm a 6-6.25, and I'm jealous of your long fingers! LOL Now I just have to narrow down the setting to 3 completely different VC settings that I love for differing reasons!

I'm a bit late to the game, but wanted to add that I am one who now wears her sapphire more than her engagement diamond. Mine isn't the classic coveted royal blue, but I love it because it's very similar to the color of hubby's eyes and I often just admire it during the day for a happy distraction. I also love having something different than everyone else.20181110_113020.jpg

So pretty!

So pretty and that color is gorgeous! Do you plan on wearing a band with it? I think I want to find a curved band with diamonds for mine...maybe.

Thank you! I would love to find a curved diamond band to wear too (maybe 2, one for each side:Up_to_something2:). Sometimes I wear my straight .75 ct 5 diamond band with it when I want it to look more like a wedding set. But it is a bit awkward and I don't want to damage either ring with the rubbing, so I don't do it often.

I’m very late to the game! Just skimmed most of the responses so apologies if it’s been mentioned, op why can’t you have both rings? You’ll find most people here have a multitude of CS & diamond jewellery not even just rings :twirl:

@facetgirl

Resurrecting this thread to ask if you've seen this listing on LT: https://loupetroop.com/listings/rin...lass-chatham-sapphire-yellow-gold-size-7-ring

It's a lab-created sapphire, but if it checks your other boxes and allows you to keep your diamond ring, maybe it's an idea?

Thank you for this @peas-and-carats !

I fear I had the one that got away in my hands (the one that started this thread). I am learning, at least for me, that a stone has to speak to you. So I am really keen on finding the stone, and building the ring around it. I just purchased an inexpensive sapphire ring to see how I feel with it. This one you shared is a beauty though.

@theredspinel - at the time, it came down to cost for me. Just could not swing the $$$ for the sapphire ring I saw, so I either had to trade it in or sit tight and save up. I decided to save up ;)2
