Why not DK isn't he a lot cheaper maybe then could spend more on diamond

You really should read the whole thread before posting. :shhh:

And...
DK's workmanship is nowhere near the league of Leon Mege, Victor Canera, Steven Kirsch, DBL's Uber bench, BE's hand forging bench, etc.
You get what you pay for.

This!

If you like the victor setting call them back, tell them you want to clarify that they will work with your stone and that it is a round and that the only alteration you want is that the outline of both the inner and outer halos should be more squared off. Say it just like that. Diction matters. Then when you confirm you should get a written work order. Make sure the details are right and you will be good to go. Also, if you like you can request a sketch that shows the squared off halo shape.

Not comparable. Thats a Simon G band. Which is nice but mass produced. They shouldn't upcharge you for just squaring the halo

Simon G makes great quality ring... you cannot compare a hand forged ring to a cast ring ( apples to oranges). That being said... most people in real world ( non ps) wear cast rings and are thrilled with them. Im hesitant to PUSH a hand forged ring when OP is paying less than 10k for diamond...

Is Junebug on this thread? I believe she has a simon G halo setting and loves it.

Mark from BE just responded back to me and gave me a quote of $3950 to replicate the style like the VC one. I requested a quote on a matching band also, so if his total package price is reasonable I may go with this vendor.

Oh man so many choices..

Here is my input on spending a lot on a setting. Since I believe I saved a lot on a nice diamond (Thanks Gyspy) I wouldn't mind spending a little extra on a nice setting. If I was to spend majority of my budget on a super nice rock then I would only be able to afford a simple setting. That's just my theory.

From a 10k stone vs a 12k stone I have no idea how much better it will be.

Quick update.

To get a matching band would cost 1950. I think BE is the front runner now base on cost to quality ratio. The whole set will cost about 6k so its well within my budget.

Going to wait for some sample pics from them.

Thanks again for all the help here.

BE is a great vendor. Make sure your work order is incredibly specifc. Talk to them on the phone. Specify the squared outline of both halos.

Is the price doe the handforged bench or the CAD bench, they jave both.

I would work with BE on a pave halo in a heartbeat.

Oh my goodness -- this makes my day. Another person saved from a horrible mall store diamond ring who is now getting so much more diamond and ring for less money.

Yay!!!!! :appl:

+1. Shewww! A close one :)

Going have to wait till Monday to talk to BE about the custom ring, since they are close for the holidays.

Yes the price is for Hand forged bench.

I'd wait to do a matching band. She will probably want to have some input on the wedding band and might want a non-matchy set - many of us do!

Otherwise you are doing great, carry on!

What a save PSers!!! Yay! Amazing stone!

That's great. I too may wait to for the matching band. Unless when you were in Shane Company she wanted the matching band for the other set. Then I would get it.

Yeah she loved the matching band with the set at Shane Co. She loved how it sat flush with the ring.

Yes, although if they actually propped it up so you could see the face of it, it would be considerably more helpful. That said, I think that's perfect for you.

You will need to specify a flush fit set ON THE ORDER. They will need to adjust the gallery of the ring a little to make that work. So make sure it is stated very clearly on the order that it is a MUST HAVE.

You are good to go. I look forward to seeing the completed ring. It is going to blow her away.

What an exciting thread! Great advice given yet again! Bravo, PS'ers!

Just got the Diamond in the mail today. Sorry for a crappy picture. Used my phone camera to capture it. Anything I should do before I send the diamond out to BE to get the rest of the work done?

Once again I can not thank you all enough, especially you Gypsy! This is one of the best community I have ever interact with by far. The diamond shine brilliantly when I did a flashlight light test
