Hi everyone,

Everything about this following diamond looks good besides the HCA score. Could anyone tell me if this diamond is worth pursuing? I've already used up my 3 allowable Ideal-scope images at James Allen and can't get anymore.

It's graded by AGS and has the following:
Cut 0
Light Performance 0
Proportion Factors 0
Finish 0
Polish Ideal
Symmetry Ideal
However, it doesn't use the AGS Platinum report where there's an ASET image included.

62.1% depth
56.9% table
35.8° crown angle
40.8° pavilion angle

HCA score 3.2
  • Light Return Very Good
    Fire Very Good
    Scintillation Very Good
    Spread Very Good

What's wrong with it? Is it possible that it's still a good diamond or should I eliminate in favor of diamonds that score HCA < 2.0? I'm super tempted to get this diamond anyway because everything else about it is so good (color, price).

Thank you all for your help.

HCA is not necessary if it has been rated a 0 on light performance - you already know it is a great performer. HCA is a weed-out tool, not a selection tool.

Ditto.
JA won't allow you to pay for more ISs? That's very strange.
If not, have it shipped out and take a look at it yourself - that would've been my next step rec anyway. You'll be out shipping but given the thousands you're looking at spending it's well worth it IMO.

I had a similar experience with JA. Once you've used up your 3 IS images, that's pretty much it.

It should be a nice stone. The steeper crown is what's dinging it, but it won't be a problem.

Thanks for everyone's insights! Unfortunately that stone I had my eye on was not eye clean - darn!
