Just for fun!

So how many of your SOs a re chronic channel surfers? If this were a sport my SO would win every competition hands down.

Sometimes it drives me nuts but most of the time I don''t really care. Normally when something comes up that has to do with weddings or engagements he flips right by it. No big surprise there.

Last night twice (yes I said TWICE)he willing sat and watched either an engagement or wedding on TV!

At one point dinner was ready and I came in to ask him to join me and he actually wanted to finish watching the wedding

! In the show the bride was so worried that everything was going to go wrong that the groom suggested they just get married outside before the actual wedding where nothing could go wrong and that way no matter what happened inside they would still have a perfect wedding. It was so sweet and cute and after the wedding one of the characters said "See, this is what you''ll remember." My SO said something like "that''s how we''re going to remember it too."

I was like "who are you and what have you done with my BF?"

Then later on "Punked" they had an engagement gone wrong where the guy asked Nicolette Sherridan to hold the ring for him and somehow the ring got dropped and the diamond fell out before the proposal and craziness in sued and I''m sure my face was just like this

. He thought is was so funny...of course it was only funny b/c it wasn''t a real proposal at all, and b/c it wasn''t our proposal.

Hey KC we were watching the same show last night! FI and I LOVE that show. We watch it together all the time. I kept finding myself tearing up over everything that was going wrong thinking "ohmygod that''s totally going to happen to us". At the end of the show he turned to me and said, "I feel like October 2009 is too long to wait. Can we do something like what they did where we get married on our terms and then we can get "re-married" on the date we have planned for our wedding?" At first I thought he was joking. He wasn''t. At all.

I ended up explaining how important our day is to our parents as well as us and that we can''t take that away from them. I also told him I have been waiting very patiently for my ring to be finished and for him to finally be ready to take this step so he can hold his horses for 14 months while we plan our day. He understood my points but ended the conversation by saying, "I just can''t wait for our day to come. I can''t wait for you to be my wife. I''m so excited."

I had to check to make sure I wasn''t melting into a giant puddle of goo right on the spot!

My BF has a very short attention span and can't stay on one channel too long. Last night we were watching Anthony Bourdain-No Reservations (love that show!) on the Travel channel and he kept flipping back to the ESPN, the News, The MOJO channel, the this, the that. Finally I had to wrestle the remote from him and say "NO!"

Drives me crazy, that boy.

Glad your man was enjoying the wedding stuff. I couldn't pay mine to watch wedding shows. Except for the occasional bride on BZilla throwing a major fit! That he watches...but only b/c its a total train wreck!

We don’t have cable LOL. We watch maybe 2 channels so there’s not much he can change. But once he does find a program to watch, there is no one that can change that channel.

I will say this though, I watch a lot more TV than he does and I love my junk shows (Sex and the City reruns, Gossip Girls, One Tree Hill LOL). He says that he hates them. Then one time I went to the DR for business and called him…the S&TC theme song was playing in the background and he starts talking about the episode and wanting to watch it. What a dork

Oh YAY! That show seems to have done a lot of good last night!

SO and I just could not stop giggling at Neil Patrick Harris rushing through the vows so that he wouldn''t cry. It really was a great episode.

Yup he is a chronic channel flipper unless he finds something he likes, I hate it I don''t know why but the constant flicking makes me feel nauseous so I usually snatch the remote and change for him.

Haha! My poor SO gets stuck watching all the wedding shows I tivo. We have a rule: if he''s on the laptop with the TV on, he doesn''t really get a say in what we watch. He''ll watch anything (except Jon and Kate Plus Eight).

But when he has "remote control" he always flips the channel during the commercial and then goes back to the original program too late so we miss a few minutes. Drives me crazy. Oh boys....

We watch a lot of Rich Bride Poor Bride. Can''t get enough of those Canadian accents..... Know what I''m talking aboot?

KC - great story!

Yeah....Ill never get guys and their remotes. It drives me NUTS!!!

Tee Hee I''m so glad I started this thread it''s more fun than I thought!

Like most cable providers we have the "Guide" feature so he can just look for something else while still having what he was watching in the background....but he won''t use it!
38.gif
On no he has to just flip through all 300+ channels. I have no idea how he can even tell what''s on that way .5 seconds is not long enough for me to know if I want to watch it or not but apparently for him it is. BOYS!

YES!!! I was like, ''is it just me or do all these weddings take place in CAN?'' Now I know they do...

He does enjoy to channel surf. But he has his usual channels that he goes to instantly upon turning on the tv. i.e. The History Channel

lol!

FF has stopped on some wedding type stuff before on a couple of occasions. I thought the same thing....."What have you done with my boyfriend?!" lol!

Rargh. Where is that ''major overraction altert'' emotie when I need it?

Warning: ''Aboot'' rant ahead!

As an educated Canadian with a ''city'' accent now living in the US, I am so tired of hearing about ''aboot''. The way Canadians pronounce ''about'' is with a diphthong that isn''t used in US dialects, so Americans by and large can''t catch it and thus think it''s ''aboot''.

The thing is, only the most backwater, provincial, rural areas have the sort of ''Canadian'' accent that most Americans find irresistible to mock, and the bottom line is it''s offensive to use. I am sick of hearing about ''aboot''. I choose to believe they don''t know how rude it is and do it without meaning anything.

I imagine it would be similar to a New Yorker being bombarded with jokes about how they talk like southern "trailer trash"[sic]. It seems people can''t resist trotting out that old chestnut every time they hear anything to do with Canada or being Canadian, despite the fact that it''s insulting and rude. They usually do it before I open my mouth, as soon as they hear I''m from Canada! Sometimes I wonder if I should abandon the ''Canadian Politeness'' and just drawl out "Thank''ee fer callin'' me a hick, y''all."
29.gif

Rant over.

Back on topic, we watched that same episode, I think the show is called "How I met your mother"? Makes me glad that we''re going the ''legal marriage first, ceremonial marriage later'' route. When he shaved his head ... oh man.
