Hand shots on Monday...I didn't have a camera.
(or a manicure!)
After work, we sometimes go down to this field where he flies a remote control plane that he has...I go wth him just to help out and sit in the sun, relax, moral support, etc. Well, yesterday, he was adament that we go (it was 4 years to the day that we finally "acknowledged" our feelings for each other...we had worked together for a year and a half before that). It looked kind of rainy, but he really wanted to go. I didn't think anything of it at all. So he flew the plane once, and landed it down in the field, in a really nice spot. He apologized that it was so far down there and said the battery ran out. So we walked down there, and I sat down while he was fooling around in his bag. He looked at me and said, "you sat down!?" I said, "yeah, it's just a little damp, and i won't get grass stains...I'm wearing black pants" He said, "but you sat down...". I kind of looked at him funny and he said "will you stand up?" I still didn't understand why, but I did Then he didn't get up and stayed down on his knee...THEN it hit me what he was doing. He pulled out the ring, did his speech, which was wonderful, and I just stood there shocked and speechless. I cry at the drop of a hat usually, but I couldn't. I was so shocked. He was tearing up, but I was just shaking...then he asked me for an answer. I of course said yes, just as it started sprinkling...
We hugged, kissed, I continued to shake
...we walked back to the car. Then we went to a restaurant for a drink because we both needed one. We called my mom, she was happy. Once we told her, we couldn't stop, and our cell phones got quite the workout. Turned out my two best friends and their husband and boyfriend and his sister(who was in from out of town) were all having dinner so they screamed and told us to come over. So we did...it was a great evening...completely perfect.
Funny coincidence...my best friend who has been living with her boyfriend of 5 years...he just got back from a trip to Memphis to visit his mom (and his sister went with him). Turns out while he was there, he got them to help him get her a ring! And he went last night to talk to her dad!!!! She doesn't know the whole story, but what timing! Very coincidental...after almost 19 years of being friends, this happens to us like this. He's asking her next week on Easter (he's doing an Easter egg hunt with her family).
