updated my post with pics of the diamond

I have been using this site the past couple of weeks and have found it to be amazingly helpful in my search for a heart diamond. I was hoping someone with some experience could give me their thoughts on this particular stone that I found - http://certs.rapnet.com/userfolders/2580/Certs/8964.pdf ($13700 if paid in bank wire) I realize the GIA cert is pretty old, should I be concerned about that? The seller said they would update it for me if I want to move forward with the purchase. I was also told the medium fluorescence did not cause any milkyness. There is a 30 day return policy but before moving forward I was hoping to get some feedback.

That is a faboulous heart. I love the shape.

I don't know specific heart diamond specs, but visually, that is VERY pleasing! I like the faceting, the size is well balanced, the colour and clarity are awesome and it has FLUORO!!! If you are happy with it and and the price - I think its a great stone!

Gorgeous and adorable ::)

It's perfect! How are you planning to set it?

The diamond looks great in the pictures. Is there any way they could make a short video showing the stone being moved around so you can see how the faceting plays in the light? That's what I'd like to see before purchasing, but from the #'s and pics it looks lovely.

WRT the GIA report, 2005 seems a little dated to me however I am not an expert, so I can't say whether it's an issue or not. Since the jeweler has offered to have the GIA report updated for you (if you purchase), you should go ahead and have them do that but make sure they understand that the sale is contingent upon the specs remaining the same.

Too cute! Sure I wasn't a heart fan but people keep coming on with the cutest ones!!!!
And a little culet? I'd snatch that up in a second. How will it be set?? Bezel I hope

My gosh, the shape is perfect! It's beautiful!

Hi blizzol!
I agree with all the posters that your heart stone is just beautiful!
I'm so anxious to hear and see how you plan to set it if you do decide to buy it. I have a 1.68 heart shaped stone that is languishing in a 99% of the time unworn necklace. I would love to take it out and reset the stone into a ring. I was thinking of very thin rose gold pave.. like Blake Lively's ring... not sure whether to go with a halo or not. I don't have any rose gold rings so that's why that caught my interest..
Can't wait to hear what you decide to do with it.. :wavey:

If I had a beautiful heart like that this is exactly how I'd set it. I just think shapes like that just need a bezel. It just emphasises the shape so perfectly

Hi nielseel!
I have thought about a bezel setting and the one you posted is beautiful. That stone is MUCH larger than mine though.. and that's my concern with a bezel setting.. I think it does not maximize the size of the stone. I'm not sure how it compares with a prong setting but a halo certainly makes any stone look BIG!
Does the setting you posted have milgrain around the outside?

I'm not sure! I have a .9 pear ( so obviously smaller  ) and yeah it has a halo but ignoring that, it was first set in a prong halo then a bezel halom. The bezel made it look a lot larger actually. And a stone your size is large. Could have a halo but certainly does not need it!

not a fan of thin heart shaped diamonds. They don't bring out the heart shape nicely.

Heart shaped ring girls..
Do you wear yours facing towards you or away?
I just thought I would continue on my heart shaped line of questioning!

i would look for ratios around 0.9+. the lobes look better and more well defined usually at this ratio.

I love it!!! Heart shaped diamonds are so rare! I'm not sure why more people don't have them. Anyways, If I were you, I'd take a look at this setting:

http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/loose-diamond-210ct-heart-shape-fancy-light-yellow-si1-gia-perfect-heart-r3635

these are the kind of length to width ratios i would get. compare that to the one you shortlisted. Look at the lobes and the curved parts of the stones. 1:1 0r 1:10 ratios have totally different looks to them.

Of course, your preference is still the ultimate decider.
