heart shaped yellow diamond egl graded---what is it worth?

hi everyone
i am looking at a heart shaped yellow diamond, egl graded. 5.0 carat, fancy intense yellow, VS1,very good polish, good symmetry, no fluoro, 59.6% depth, 75% table, medium to very thick faceted, cape absorption.
i would be buying it based on pix from california from a jeweler in orange county. very reputable. what would or should this stone be worth?
if i could get it for in the mid 40s, is that a good deal?

What is the return policy of the vendor? I would never buy any FCDs that does not allow a return and full refund. Secondly, for the price, I would insist on a GIA lab report so that I know exactly what I am getting. I would not accept any other lab reports. Although colour sets the bulk of the price, I wonder about the cut (sparkle) of the pear based on the table size you provided. It is really huge.

100% return policy. i was going to have the stone checked once i bought it by an appraiser locally. unfortuantely, only the egl certified, which i have a copy of.
do you think this is worth 44k? it is already halo mounted with diamonds.

Has the seller explained to you that the EGL report is worthless?
This is especially true with large stones, and large fancy colored diamonds in particular. The report will have no relevance to the actual grade of the diamond.
We can tell from the price that it is not a 5 carat fancy intense ~heart-shaped, unless there is a huge problem with it - I can make this statement based on the price

thank you for your honesty! i am a little apprehensive but because i have been in his store and he will take the stone back no questions asked, i am leaning on seeing what my local appraiser/jeweler says. i agree the price is low, so that is why i put this on the forum.

You're welcome! Please be aware that no appraiser will be able to accurately grade the diamond in a setting. Based on the price, there's no way it's even as dark as fancy light yellow
