Heated spinel

I read here a few days ago that they are heating spinels, and happen to see this stone on ebay under treatment, it says heated. I am so sad that it is no longer safe to buy spinels on ebay...What's next? Garnet?

I have read somewhere that some spinels respond well, but some do not. So not every spinel can be heated to a good color.

I've heard the same thing. If it had some sort of effect they would have started long ago.

I think when people are listing large amounts of similar items they sometimes leave parts of the description of the previous item.

GIA's paper states that heated spinels ARE in the marketplace. It is done not to improve colour but the clarity.
