Did anyone see the ER that Spencer gave Heidi on MTV''s episode of The Hills tonight? Just wondering what the specs were on it. Had a heartattack that he spent very little time picking it out. Think it was a Leon Mege?

Honestly, I think it was probably a pretty cheap cocktail ring (at least relatively cheap). Did you see the kind of store he bought it in? Not exactly high end...

And I don't think anyone stocks Leon rings right? They are all custom made from what I know...

So funny you say that, my FI said the same thing about the store!!
No idea who made it but thought it resembled something by Leon I thought I saw once. You''re probably right though.

I just watched the episode to see the bling since I''m not really a fan of the show...I didn''t think it looked all that fabulous. Found a pic online and it sounds like it''s a pink stone or an amethyst set in a plat. band. Meh. I thought the proposal was the strangest...Heidi''s speech at the end was so focused on all the negativity surrounding their relationship with Lauren or whatever, why would she bring all that up right after being proposed to?

I give ''em six months, LOL!

Anyway, the ring isn''t even platinum. He asked the sales lady where her "high end" stuff was, and she pointed to a section and said something about that''s where their 14kt white/yellow gold is. LMFAO.
Not that there is anything wrong with WG, I''m sportin'' it right now! But I don''t know if I''d consider it "high end".

Well, it''s one of two things: 1) Heidi is just clueless and actually thinks the ring is real cuz Spencer told her so, or 2) she''s lying to save face. On that Philly radio interview that was so talked about, she flat out denied having plastic surgery too.

Yeah, I know I can''t believe I''m so into this stuff either... I agree though, something is wrong with Spencer''s teeth. They scare me. He is the son of some famous cosmetic dentist or something, I think I read somewhere, so clearly he''s had some work done and they''re supposed to look good...?!

The ring: I think it said in my magazine that it was $100,000.00. It also said that it was a 10ct amythest. It looks like the other magazines are listing it as a 10ct "pink" stone. It seemed like the woman behind the counter said it was white gold. I think the ring is pretty, and if he would of looked around and really like that one the best I would think there was no problem with it. But I really was appalled how he picked it out. He just went into that store, Ice @ Brentwood Gardens (i looked at thier website but it''s under construction), asked what was "high end", then whats was most expensive. When the camera panned down there was only that one style of ring with 4 stone variations, and he just picked one. WTF. I don''t know if it was because he had his friend with him who was bashing his decision the whole way or what, but that was ZERO thought into the ring.

The proposal: I don''t think the proposal itself is lame. BUT for someone with that much money you''d think he''d maybe doing something a bit more grand.

It''s a shame because I used to like Lauren on Laguna Beach but this season she seems like nothing but a man hater. My husband was watching the show with me and was like, "Why doesn''t think chick want anyone to have a boyfriend?" I felt a little sorry for Heidi, but still Spencer is creepy.

The whole thing made me so mad. He put NO effort into it. I mean, the store was like Claire''s for grown ups! I read in a mag that it cost I think somewhere between $1500 and $2500. Not that that is anything to sneeze at, but for someone with that car? At least buy a nice half carat something with it, not a cocktail ring.....and I have to say my favorite part was that he didnt ASK her anything, just handed it to her and said he didnt even know what finger it went on. HAHAHA this thread is cracking me up! I will shamelesssly admit that I love that show for some strange reason.. and I agree with several things mentioned already:

1. Spencer looks like a T-Rex (almost died when I read that Luckystar, I think so too!)
2. If my boyfriend bought my e-ring in a store with belts and purses (from a 16 year old salesgirl no less) I would die.

3. Leon Mege.... RIGHT

This thread is awesome! First of all- we have to remember that the entire cast is like 23 years old and they have jobs as receptionists, interns, or no jobs at all. the fancy cars are gifts from rich parents. None of them have any great income stream (except trust funds) because they don''t get paid much to do the show.

That ring is NO Leon.
Maybe real diamond melee, but that pink thing is probably a real pink tourmaline if she is lucky.
It is tacky as e-ring and not even close to the pink trend that J-Lo Affleck started.
The ring will be in her drawer in 6 months.

But I love the show. I live in LA and it cracks us all up!

Ashamed to admit it but I am totally addicted to the show. Because of this I was online right away looking stuff up and googling "heidi montag engagement ring" after the show. Here's what I came up with...
I'm pretty sure the ring is an Amethyst, not a pink stone. After I saw the show I looked the store up online (Ice Accessories) and was able to do a little searching. There was a similar ring on their website for round $2,000 I think? However, the description said that all of the diamonds are "lab grown"

I think he paid under $3,000...around 2500-2800 maybe.
I also thought it was weird that he seemed to not do any research and just picked the first thing he saw. Maybe that store is somewhere that she shops a lot and she had liked that ring in the past. Maybe he didn't want to go overboard since he's not sure if it will last or maybe the engagement is fake and just a way to garner more publicity which is what a lot of the rumors are.

I also read that it was ~$2800 with an amethyst center stone. From what I saw of the episode, he bought the first one the salesgirl handed him. I highly doubt anything in that store (Ice Accessories?) carries a $100,000 price tag.

When I said the proposal was lame it is NOT b/c it was on the beach but I thought his speech was lame. Plus I really like the whole one knee tradition. I think some of the best proposals are free. Just didn''t seem to have any heart (or thoguht) behind it.

Not a fan of either of them (or the show for that matter) but I''ll tell you that I doubt it''s a real engagement. These shows look to boost their ratings at premiere time -- this probably also accounts for the crazy Heidi/Lauren/Spencer "feud". Spencer''s car is also likely leased and he got the show paying for it.

I think the ring looks fake -- a pretty fake, maybe for an RHR.

Check out their site on MTV.com -- they''re running a promotion to win a diamond -- a 1/2 carat oval. Notice they mispelled "faceted".

I live a block from ICE! Ice Accessories is a small chain of stores that sells accessories such as makeup bags and mirrors and gift items. They have a large display of CZ jewelry and a display of ''real'' jewelry, definetly topping off at under $10,000. I don''t know anyone who has ever gone there to buy jewelry. Spencer probably is friends with the owners of the store and wanted to give them exposure, or MTV made a promotional deal with them.

Spencer Pratt does have very rich parents, so I don''t think his car is a promotional deal. I do find it very funny that Lauren lives at "Westside Villas". It''s really called Palazzo at Park LaBrea.
