Could you post a picture of the mechanism?
The mechanish, is a well hidden secret, many have tried to copy the ''surprise'' ring with no success . But, I'll post a photo with the mechanism, from the ''surprise'' bracelet, you can see it more clearly (than the ring).

Very cool! Does the bracelet match the ring -- also diamonds and sapphires?

I have to say that the bracelet is more impressive.

Stunning! How long did it take you to make it?

A set!? Any surprise necklace or pendant?

I looked at these wonderful pieces and said to myself, small surprise, Dimos is coming from Greece, whose art, since most ancient times, has been amazing! Absolutely stunning jewelry, Dimos, wonderful pieces!

Welcome to PS, Dimos! :wavey:

Lovely jewelry pieces. I love jewelry pieces that can have varied looks.

When it opens and closes, does it remain a safe distance from the face of the sapphires? It looks like it has enough clearance so there'd be no scratches left by the points on the backs of the diamonds against the sapphires. The gold wouldnt scratch the sapphires(at least it shouldnt).

Thats a neat design. So often people just copy and dont innovate.

Unfortunately there is only ring and bracelet, (it took me months to be able to succeed the correct mechanism), the sapphires don't have any problem to be scratched or damaged. But I have to admit something, I've been amazed with the fact that you find the ring (and the bracelet) a nice piece of work. The comments from my surrounding are not so well, most of them believe that if I was a professional goldsmith, I couldn't manage to sell something so bizarre. At least this ring is for my girlfriend who loves it.

Hi Dimos :)

As speaking from experience as well as historically; a well known artisan is usually never admired from people in their own home area???

I wonder why ;) :naughty:

I know in my business I sell 99.5 percent of my work out of my home state and about 70% even out of the country. So you are an artisan among many with the same problem.

I find your skill level and artistic attitude in the highest regards.

Keep up the fine work. Your loved ones as mine are Blessed to have us around to make them nice things  As i am sure you are similar to me; it is NOT all about the money...

Most respectfully;

Mastercutgems, I don't compete anybody because I am not a professional goldsmith and I agree that it is not all about money. I will not sell the most of the jewellery I have made but, as I have said before, it would make me proud to see other women enjoying wearing them. However, I have no circle of acquaintances.

Dimos your "Surprise" ring and bracelet are quite magical - thank you for sharing these beautiful pieces with us. I'm sure your girlfriend is absolutely delighted to be able to wear them.

Beautiful, are you self taught?

I am glad you like the surprise ring and bracelet. Yes, I am self taught, but I have to mention once more that I am not a diamond setter, I am a goldsmith. If I want to set anything I go to a diamond setter and I pay for it.

Thank you for the clarification. I was under the impression that you set all the gemstones as well. How long have you been doing goldsmithing as your hobby? Did you have a mentor?

Chrono, I have started this hobby since 1988. During all these years I have contacted many goldsmiths in order to teach me something but in vain. Only one (Mr Sakis) teached me some secrets of this job (God bless him!) and I still call him, If I have any questions, although he is retired. I am in a good level but I still want to learn more about making jewelry and new techniques.

Dimos, as a fellow greek and an admirer of beautiful jewelry, i welcome you on PS and i congratulate you on this amazing work :appl:
