Help and a few questions with a princess cut purchase

I had to stay up to 4am to call them, but i finally got through to SB. They're checking if they can get stone C since it's shared stock

That said, I think at this stage it's definitely going to be either B or your recommendation jstarfireb!

We'll see what package price they'll give me for either stone. Your recommendation will definitely be under my budget, B will be slightly over

Sorry to be a pain all... but while waiting for WF's reply, I've had a quick scan of a few more threads on PS and found out about BGD

I've had a look at their website, and found 3 stones that look interesting

a) http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-104047236028
b) http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-104047876016
c) http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-104047876014

What do you guys think of these compared to the WF ones?

They're all gorgeous and perhaps even nicer than the WF ones, although as I mentioned I'm not sure if you'll really notice a visual difference once the cuts are all this good. Based on ASET and size, I'd probably pick the 1.04 E/VS2 if pressed against a wall. The 1.02 G/VS1 would be my second choice, followed by the WF stone I suggested, then the BGD 1.07 G/VS1, followed by your other picks, a>b>c.

Quick question Jay-Tee, how did you find out about that SB diamond with AGS lab report? I searched their online "diamond search" and wasn't able to locate any princess cut 1-1.5 ct with AGS. So I really need some help here. Thanks.

Hi xvsu

I found the SB stone through the search option on this website

Thanks for your help again jstarfireb!

I just spoke to Brian and all of them including the setting will be out of the price range

Looks like the only one within the "budget" range is http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-104046707011

Also a good choice. There is an odd effect of obstruction in the photo, but I don't think it will show up in real life (my princess has a similar pattern of obstruction in close-up photos, and it's not evident IRL). You really can't go wrong with the ones you've picked out. I'm being nitpicky about these ASETs just because I can! But in reality, the visual difference is likely to be subtle.

I do think both WF and BGD may have better customer service than SB, and I'm not sure if SB has an upgrade policy. That may steer you in one direction. Plus, I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but the ASET on the SB diamond's AGS report is a computer-generated image rather than a real image of light return. The other ASETs are actual photos of the diamond through an ASET scope. So I'd be more likely to trust the "real" ASETs if you know what I mean.

After much too-ing and frow-ing, I've finally made the decision. Apologies to Lesley for keeping you up if you happen to be on the forum!

Even thought the BGD stone was slightly above my budget, I decided to go with this stone in a 4 prong Tiffany style knife edge band setting:

Also, thanks so much for your help jstarfireb, I've really appreciated it!

Can't wait to see the ring, it should be quite significantly better than the last ring she had

Jay-Tee: I think you made an excellent choice. Please post pictures of the finished ring!

Will do. I'll definitely post pictures of it up after I re-propose to her again :D

It's going to be lovely!

Hi all

I've received the glamour shots from BGD

Only 2 more days till we see it in person!
