So, ever since I became engaged last Oct, I've been wondering if my setting is the best for my cushion. I've been playing around with several different setting ideas, but I can't figure out if I am crazy, or my thoughts are justified enough to change the setting (pics below)
First, I feel that because the culet sits right on top of the metal part of the band, its reflecting the metal, causing a more darkish spot in the center of my diamond. Not sure its that causing it, or if I am imagining things. This has made me wonder what a more "open" type setting like a Halo would do for the diamond, if anything.
I really am not to fond of the "inverted pyramid" setting (where it juts out straight from the band). I read elsewhere on the boards that this type of setting may be more structurally weak than others. Again, perhaps I'm just trying to rationalize why I'd want to change the setting.
Main question, has anyone noticed a difference in their diamond's light performance based on their setting (especially those who changed settings). I'd love to see your setting pictures and have your opinion!! I have picture of my current setting, and the few Henri Daussi's I'm playing around with. Basically, I just want my diamond to sparkle to its max
Here are the 4 settings I am looking at:
