Help deciding on custom engagement ring designer

Yeah the angle possibly causes me to second guess myself as well. For example these don't look symmetric, but is that also a visual anomaly? 8A3DD57F-941F-4B34-8A45-34D9D2C8F29B.jpeg

I think it could just be the angle as well. Maybe just ask DK to verify for you that they are symmetrical?

Another thing as I keep looking at these is the halo from the CAD has 4 diamonds in the pave while the end model has 5. The middle diamond appears to droop here causing the hidden halo to not be straight 2B0C9738-7B48-4C7E-A1A8-5E05B35FB8C4.jpeg

Well, the ring is gorgeous! As for these concerns, I think you need to wait to see in person with an open mind (if that’s possible!).

Thank you! Sadly it's not possible for me to see it in person as I live on the other side of the country, but hopefully these small things are nothing to be concerned about. I remember getting caught up in the magnified imperfections of the diamond that I cannot even see.

I really suggest checking out Victor Canera and Maytal Hannah. Their prices are a bit higher but their quality is just superb and the artistry can’t be beat!

I placed a bunch of quotes for a custom twisted vine engagement ring and having trouble deciding between two companies. The ring is platinum, with a pave band, and a hidden halo. I have included some photos.

Ritani wants $2640 for the ring, but provides a 30 day return policy, one free resize within a year, a free appraisal, and lifetime cleanings and maintenance. The ring is manufactured in New York.

Loosegrowndiamonds.com wants $1,627.50 for the ring. The ring is manufactured overseas in India and only a 7 day return policy is offered, with the normal maintenance warranty. No cleanings, resizing, or appraisal.

I'm not sure if it's worth an additional $1,000 for American made with a better warranty. Customer service for both companies seems good. Any help would be appreciated. Also if you have any thoughts on the ring design too that would be great!

This also might be a perspective issue creating this effect. Ask for more photos or a video to evaluate before he sends it out, or verify with DK that you can send it back for tweaks if you see something after getting it in person.

I have had DK make one mounting for me. The prongs in the glamor shots made me nervous, and I asked for them to be tweaked. He did, and also reminded me that the glamor shot is much larger than what I would see.

I accepted that, trusting him because of the overwhelmingly good reports I have read here.

Two weeks ago I took the better part of my collection to the appraiser David Lynch. He is very respected—selected to appraise the Titanic recovery. Of all of my pieces, he selected the one I have from DK to comment on how well made the setting was.

You are in good hands.

Likely to be camera angle. Having taken (way too) many photos of my own rings, camera angle can absolutely make the center stone appear off-center when it isn’t.

I've been in the same boat with DK, a video makes things stand out as imperfections but upon receiving it, I couldn't see any of those imperfections. I'm not sure how but the magnification really does seem to play tricks sometimes. Perhaps have it shipped out to you to see what you think. I have had DK ship something to me and then I sent it back and he fixed a couple tweaks, so that's also an option.

Is it like that on all sides? I have a hidden halo (not from DK ) and mine swoops

I think this is the angle of photography

That damn ice block thingy is so annoying! I’m so glad I saw your post because I just got my glamour shot from DK and the head on my ring looks crooked to me. I asked him to take a look. I’m assuming it’s the camera angle on mine and it’s probably the case with yours as well. I’m not a fan of his glamour shots and his pieces always look better in real life.

I think the prongs are symmetrical but look odd due to the angle.
