Help. Is this diamond worthy of purchasing? My jeweler is adamant is a good quality diamond. A google search says the proportions are not ideal.

Thank you both. Wow. Who knew this would be so conflicting with information. Maybe ignorance is bliss

Freddieboston, what’s your overall opinion of this diamond?

well in the James Allen spin.. it's like it's not quite "firing on all cylinders" / living up to the proportions potential..... And you might be overpaying for VVS2 clarity you don't really need...

One last question. What can I look at through James Allen to follow
What you’re saying? Would you say it’s a crappy diamond? Is it still far better than some of
The other GIA XXX proportions?

@freddyboston said it exactly right. It isn't the proportions that are problematic. It's the execution. As you saw, the proportions are within the whiteflash ideal specs. The problem is that the way they cut this particular stone wasn't good. Proportions only tell paet of the story, which is why we tell people never to buy a stone based on report info alone.

It's similar to trying to figure out how someone looks if all the info you have is height and weight. It gives you a rough idea (kind of), but nowhere near the actually true picture

Thank you. I might be stuck with this stone. My jeweler bought it from one of his vendors.
I’m Not sure what his return window is. I feel a bit stuck. There is a non refundable deposit on the table of roughly $6000 as I pulled out of another diamond he showed me After finding this platform and getting negative reviews. I proposed a Whiteflash diamond to him but he found this one instead and purchased it after running through the proportions with me. I’m sick about it as I thought he found a mostly perfect diamond with ideal proportions. Wonder if I should walk away rather than invest more money in a not so great diamond. Any advice would be appreciated

I will go on and talk to him tomorrow. Is the bottom photo the diamond in question? If so, where do you get this? I want to show the jeweler but also want to let him know where I got this still photo. I only have an 8 second video that he showed me.

I don’t think someone can legally keep a $6000 deposit without giving you any product for it so if you really do want to pull out and purchase from somebody else, then you should do that. I’m pretty sure it would be illegal for them to keep your money without actually providing you with any product.

That said the diamond in question if it is the one in the bottom picture that was shown just a bit of thread is much better than the one you originally began with. Yes, you can get better. But it’s not a dog. Don’t panic. Don’t walk away from $6000. If for some reason you’re not willing to fight to get your deposit back so that you can buy something that not only has all the correct angles, but also has a cut that has been executed very well, then following through with this diamond would not be a waste of your money. It will still sparkle more than probably 98% of the diamonds that are out there right now.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words, Dreamer D. I will try not to panic but I am
Making myself sick with worry with so much money riding on this. Ugh. Wish I could press the reset button and knew then what I know now. It’s worth the extra premium to get a diamond from Whiteflash that has the AGS “ideal” supplement to the GIA report as I clearly don’t know what the hell I’m doing and maybe the jeweler doesn’t have a clear understanding of cut. I’m so turned off at this point. I just want to get my money back and do nothing more than buy a CZ off of Amazon. It’s not been a pleasant experience at all. Thank you for giving me some peace while I navigate this nightmare.

In my time here it always turns out well! If you decide to keep this one, then I’m sure you will love it. You can also search and buy a more precisely cut stone form your dealer with our support. Buying a super ideal is not the only way to find a beautifully cut stone.

Dreamer D, thanks so much. I am going to look at the stone today. He sent me a video. Wish I could send it here but it has to get approved and they never seem to post videos. It looks beautiful in his video. It has lots of sparkle and is clear in the video. He said I have nothing to worry about, that the stone is beautiful. I guess I will see today. Definitely a learning experience. I will keep you posted. You are my hero.

How did everything go with your jeweler? Did you love the stone in-person? I so hope you did! I know this process can be very stressful!

Hi there. I did see the stone in person. Maybe I don’t know what I’m looking for but it looked stunning, even outside in the light. Lots of sparkle.

Yes. I was super sparkly, even when I took it outside.
