I got a Tiffany Novo ring last year, but I just in love with classic Tiffany setting ring. So I'm thinking of sell it, and get the money to buy a new one. But now, here are 3 options comes up, and I can't make decision

My ring: Tiffany Novo, 1.02ct main diamond, plus 0.16 small diamond on the band.
G color, VS1,
cutting: excellent, polish: excellent
Retail price about: $20000. I'd like to seller $15200
Purchase date: 2011 Apr.

Option 1: SELL the ring for $12000. Someone only offer me that much.

Option2: Exchange with a Tiffany setting round brilliant ring:
1.28ct., G color, VS2 clarity
FLUORESCENCE: NONE
CUT: EXCELLENT
SYMMETRY: EXCELLENT
POLISH: EXCELLENT
Purchase date: Nov. 2008 ( two years older than my ring)
Retail price about: $17400. Now Asking price $14900

Option 3: Just keep the ring. And I will love it eventually.

Dear all, if you were me, which option would you choose?

I just can't believe my instinct. Like I just don't understand why did I buy Novo rather than classic setting.

Please help!

Hopefully , I won't regret this time.

You paid a hefty premium for that setting and it will be very hard to get your money back. Aside from the fact that I really don't understand paying $20,000 for a 1 carat diamond in a simple setting, I guess I would exchange it for the one you love, if they are giving you that option.

I don't think she really means "exchange" the way we understand it. I think she means sell hers and buy another used ring.

I would not do that. The Tiffany Novo is equally beautiful to the classic Tiffany setting (which I also love), but the Novo is even more distinctive. The only way I'd change it is if you someday can do the upgrade with Tiffany which means spending double the purchase price and get the round diamond ring then. I just wouldn't sell a Tiffany ring at a loss and buy a used ring.

You need to go to Tiffany first if you bought new from them and see what your options are. See if you can really exchange it or if you have to upgrade it and what the parameters are. Start there. But if you bought secondhand your only way really may be Selling it outright and then you know that's what you do but then you take that money and buy a non Tiffany brand look alike elsewhere and get more bang for your buck. Or buy another secondhand. But make 100 percent sure that's what you really want to do.

Tiffany only upgrade the ring purchased from US, but mine's not. So can't get any solution from Tiffany.

Can't upgrade since my ring is not a US purchase.
How about sell the ring and buy a new one?

You can sell the ring and buy a new one, sure, but you're going to lose a LOT of what you paid originally, so if that's ok with you, then fine.

The Nova is GORGEOUS!!!!!!! I LOVE that ring! The Tiffany rings do hold their value well, but over a LONG term -not 2 years like you've had yours. I would vote to NOT sell it. How about a different wedding band? May we see a picture of your set on your hand?

I would just keep it personally. The Novo is a beautiful ring.

I haven't got my wedding band yet, cos I'm thinking of change the Novo ring.
But if I keep novo, I will get the match novo wedding band anyway. What do you think ?

I had my heart set on a Novo since forever ago. When my SO took me ring shopping, I was still obsessed and he liked it too. Just recently I had a revelation that with my job (medical field) pave may not be the best fit. Also, if I choose to not wear my ering...the Novo band alone leaves much to be desired (IMO). No OOMPH! So I went back to Tiff's and decided on the solitaire and a .56 shared prong wb. Let me tell ya, that's all I needed to convince the bf! He loves the bling factor. SO I DEF UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING..

HOWEVER, You already have the Novo (which is GORGEOUS), and invested 20k into that ring, which you will never get back. You will def take a loss on the ring (didn't we just have a thread recently that Tiffany won't authenticate unless its the original owner? Ahhh yes...here...https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/has-tiffany-changed-their-authentication-policy.183472/) I wouldn't buy anything expensive that was Tiffany's second hand if i couldn't authenticate it. If you have the money to sell the ring at a major loss and buy a new ring then go for it! Otherwise, I'd try to see what bands I could put with the novo to make me like it more!

Is option 2 a real tiffany ring or just a tiffany like setting?

Thanks for your post. Your information is very important.

Yes, another thing to consider is that Tiffany no longer does valuations/authentications for anyone other than the original owner of the piece, so while you will own a Tiffany RB solitaire if you exchange with this person, you will have no way of confirming it to be such.

Well, you will lose several thousand dollars if you do that. Does the new ring have to be Tiffany brand? Because you can get an equal to better diamond and a replica setting and get a larger diamond for your money. That is what I have, in fact.

this is what i was thinking. If you could find a way to sell it for 12-15k, you could get a replica setting (there are many good ones) and a similar or larger stone even for the lesser price than you purchased the tiffany's

Sell for whatever you can and then use the money to replace it with a non-tiffany piece. The end product on your hand will be the "same" and you will then lose the least, subjectively.

HI:

Didn't you have issues with the resizing of the ring...was it remade by Tiffany?

cheers--Sharon

If you really don't like , sell it and get a much bigger non brand RB.

Hi Sharon , I'm a us size 6, so I don't need to resize the ring.

If you do not like it, I say sell it for what you can and get a non-designer ring and get something much bigger and more to your taste. The options nielseel posted is a good option if you want the "tiffany" look.

try selling to ring and then get something you like. the preloved section might be a good place to start.
